Dear sister, here is the line from the Chapter on Ya'Suf (surah Yousuf):
إنا أنزلنه قرءنا عربيا لعلكم تعقلون
We have sent it down an Arabic compilation, so you comprehend.
hmmm, some comprehension if we cannot figure out why.
And then in the Chapter on Detailing (surah Fusilat)
كتب فصلت ءايته قرءانا عربيا لقوم يعلمون
A Scripture/Book/Law whose signs are detailed, a compilation in Arabic for a people with knowledge/understanding.
Why? What's the point if we cannot understand?

BTW: I am a Qari/Mujawwid... and I know how appealing the Quran is. It is amazing! However, to view it from this aspect only and to read it purly from a reading-w/o-understanding point of view is a superficial following. The same as the diffreence between a home-made nutricious meal v/s McDonalds IMO. I understand The God is Merciful and rewards you for your actions and intent, but reading without understanding and knowing that you are reading without understanding hoping magic to happen is not my idea of giving Quran respect. I therefore think that this works against the reader.

I can agree with this, but this doesnot mean you do not try to understand the message if you do not know Arabic.
