I dont know the wisdom. I just know that it is OK. If its not then thousands of muslims in pakistan/India who stand behind Imam to finish Quran during Taraveeh are really wasting there time

Agree that it was in use in Pre-islamic poetry in Arab and meaning might be embedded. None of the Tafaseer's I went through claimed that Allah (SWT) used the same rule in Quran of embeding the meaning in the Sura. Even if that is true, it still means that we dont know that for sure. One can only guess but my guess will be as good as yours.
The idea behind muqatta'aat according to classical arabic poetry is to reveal the meaning of the letters in pictorial form to present an almost art-like form. How would disjoint letters help if they are only known to God. Why bother mentioning them if you cannot understand... So much for the Quran being called MUBEEN. But hey I know how it goes according to tradition... only listen and stop questioning.

Good... it is being used to address. TaaHaa in Arabic means Yaa-Rijaal (O Man) and holds similar connotation.
