ya makee a **hhigghh **bun like those sikh people do... I untie it in between to let it air dry a little bit and then tie it again... since my hair is extreeemely fine, I find it falls flat faster if I use mousse on wet hair.

Re: summer hair/skin
Sunblocks are not enough I think... I use sunblock with 50+ spf but still I am getting tanned & my hands too :( ...
Re: summer hair/skin
Summer makes my hair super-sexy. =/
Idk about tanning though...
Re: summer hair/skin
Philo do you straighten your hair a lot? I find that it makes hair a bit more drier in the sun, use heat protection spray if you don't already. Sometimes the best thing to do might be to get advice from a hair dresser too, just ask them what they recommend, I tried a few shampoos that way when my hair used to be a bit thinner years back :/
Re: summer hair/skin
Oh, and I love tanned skin. Not sunburnt skin so much though :(
Re: summer hair/skin
I LOOOOOOOOOVE curly hair. My hair is dead straight and I actually take a curling iron to it every other day LOL.. Embrace you're curly hair!
Also sunscreen doesn't stop you from tanning. I learned this from my dermatologist when I REFUSED to put sunscreen on because I wanted to be tanner. She told me sunscreen doesn't stop you from getting a tan, it prevents damage to your skin in the long run by burning. That being said, I love tanned skin and I'm probably the only Paki who uses self tanners LOL.
If you don't wanna get darker stay out of the sun all together.
Re: summer hair/skin
^ Yeah sunscreen/sunblock won't stop you from getting tan...it just stops damaging UV rays from penetrating your skin. The best thing for not tannign is wearing long sleeves and hats and all that.
Re: summer hair/skin
It's funny. I have the opposite problem. My hair is at its worst in the winter :( Feeels veryyy dryyy. It gets better in the summer. What I try to do is use a bit of conditioner every time I wash my hair and I wait for my hair to dry (air-dry) before I leave the house. Also, coconut oil as a pre-wash treatment once a week.
Re: summer hair/skin
Straight hair with a slight wave here, and I still get frizz. I've noticed when I air/finger/scrunch dry it looks effortlessly better. Sounds like you have thick, supercurly hair - sulfate free shampoos might help tone down your natural frizz. Finger-comb instead of using a brush. Try natural products for styling, like light oils vs. mousse which can leave your hair 'crunchy.' Also, do get a haircut, you need to purge tired, dull hair and make way for the new. With the right layers, girls with short, curly hair look so chic!
Work with your environment I guess. I've realized loading the hair with silicones and waxes to 'tame' it might be unnecessary if the general water supply wasn't so high in salt content. Like I remember my hair needed no styling and felt super silky when I visited Pakistan. Same thing on the East Coast. It's the water I tell ya.
Re: summer hair/skin
Philo, what kind of shampoo do you use and what is your summer skincare regimen like?
FrizzEase makes a great hair 'balm' that works even in the most humid weather. I maintained my blowdry all night long in Dubai's worst summers at an outdoor event with this product!
Philo, do try protein treatments and hot oil treatments.
Re: summer hair/skin
Anyways....Philo, I'll PM you my hair regimen, and to anyone else who is interested.
And I agree with Stoppits...I fully embrace and love my natural curly hair!! I don't try to straighten it or shy away from it, and that is how I learned to tame and conquer the frizz.
Don't listen to the haters, it can be done!
Khatti jee please send to me too
Re: summer hair/skin
Something that works for me is wash hair and pull back with a claw clip literally near the crown of my head and let it dry for about an hour and then take the clip put my hands through the hair to release the curls, it stops the frizz but keeps the curls at the bottom
Ps As much as it stinks, mustard oil is the best for my hair, makes it shiny and less frizzy
