pakistan army is a joke. half of them are mullah types themselves. there is no political will to go after taleban in pakistan, too much of the security apparatus are islamists.
the only cure for the cancer of radicalism is secular progressivism, but that is not going to happen. i feel for the innocent, i am beyond caring for the state now, you can only care for a nation if it helps itself. every third man in pakistan is a mullah sympathizer or worse.
i say if pak cant fix the mullahs in FATA, let the US bomb FATA into pieces, hell use the PAF.
pakistan will succomb to islamist radicals, and when it does i except no one who doesnt support massive force now to crush them, to raise surprise.
Please do not use the word "Islamists". You have already used too many words (mullah, redicals, taleban...etc.) so there is not need for an additional words.
The word Islamists is invented by BBC and CNN and should not be used to point out terrorists.
Ever heard of Jewists, Christianists or Hinduists when they kill people in Kashmir, Chechniya, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan...etc. ??
The Taliban demonstrate an embarrassing inability to help themself. I mean, why would they want to alienate the average Sunni Muslim civilian laborer in Pakistan at a time when the civilian government is taking control of the country? So, instead of trying to win the hearts and minds of the common Muslim man and earn some sympathy for their cause against the army and the USA, they attack the very group of people that could help them. Do they not realize that the only thing keeping the US and the Army from bombing their world into oblivion is the sense of fairness, love and compassion felt by the common Muslim man in Pakistan for the humanity of these tribal morons?
This is the same lack of brains one sees in the radicals in Palestine. I mean, in 50 years there would be enough non Jewish Palestinians to take political control of the democratic government in the State of Israel. However, instead of keeping quite, working hard and waiting until they are a majority to obtain equality they keep blowing themselves up and making it harder for themselves and for others to trust them.
Excellent points Bob. As the current youth generation takes account of affairs in Pakistan, say in the next 10 years, such sense of loyalty and fairness towards the tribal areas will be far less than current. Its time to accelerate the emergence of young blood in our political party mix as to introduce clear and abject thinking without conflict of interests.

You have raised an interesting point here.
If an average sunni muslim feels a sense of compassion and fairness toward Taliban, he/she needs to wake up now and face the bitter truth. An average peace loving Sunni muslim and Taliban are not one and the same.
Among several other incidences, there is one that I find worth mentioning. In April, 2006, during a meelad procession of “Sunni Movement”, An unidentified suicide bomber blew himself up near the stage and killed 57 people. The entire cream of Sunni leadership was eliminated in one split second blast. Similar attacks were taking place monthly in different parts of the country.
If the compassion is not shaken by weekly suicide bombings in funeral processions, religious ceremonies, mosques, public places, hospitals, Jirgas, etc, then I don’t think it will ever be shaken. There is nothing to complain about then.
*A large number of people held a demonstration in Wah to condemn the attack, express solidarity with bereaved families and demand arrest of those involved in the incident.

This is need of the hour, people waking up and showing their dissent towards these bombings, hopefully it will spread to the extent of lynching of the planners/executers-to-be just like it happened to few mobile-snatchers.
