Its likely they did set their watches to match each others. One theory is the fourth bomber supposedly may have been targetting the Northern Line but was held back due to delays and decided to detonate on the bus. Some eyewitness statements from the Tavistok Sq blast suggest the bomber was getting restless and started fidgeting with his bag, pointing to a possible spur of the moment detonation.
