how can anyone like this ghastly song? urgh

there is one song from pyasa. i just can't remember the words...yeh duniya something something.

btw UT, the rest of the compilation is :k:

especially phir wohi raat hai - tks for reminding us of this golden oldie!

UT :)

Amazing Collection....Any specific reason for the collection?

My favs are: Tere bina zindagi se koi shikwa to nahiN
KahiN Duur jabb dinn dhal jaaye

I wouldnt mind having a CD with a collection like this...
hint hint: pass it along after ur done. (hehehe)

Good Job!!

karina!! that songs awesome though… zindagi ka na toote lari.. pyaar karle ghari dho ghari… actually i dont know why i like it :konfused:

some more songs i like

  • neele neele ambar par chaand jab aaye
  • yaara seeli seeli
  • saiyan dil mein aana re
  • agar tum na hothe

sadzz, hehe, it's a personal thing. i like all your other choices!! have u heard katra katra? this thread has made me dig out oldies.

UT, the movie is not pyasa, but kagaz ke phool.

Karina,
ghastly?? are you referring to the video?? I haven’t seen it, but just like the Lambi Lambi umriya ko choro part of the song.

Your quite welcome… I just happen to be an oldies freak sometimes.

I’m not good with movies since they’re typically older than I am  but is the song you’re talking about Yeh Duniya Yeh Mehfil mere kaam ki nahi?

Another good one along the same lines… in fact an awesome one is:

Bhari DUniya mey aakhir dil ko samjhaane kahaaN jaayeN…

Saddzz… Neele Neele Amber parr is :k: and so is Yaara Seeli Seeli!
Great choice! just belong to anopther genre perhaps.

that one is from Pyaasa Karina - yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye tow kya hai - jaala do jaala do - something along those lines. The last song that is in the movie I believe when Guru Dutt walks into the hall and finds out someone is singing his shayeri

Kaghaz ke phool had a wonderful song in it - Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam - na tum, tum rahe - na hum hum. awesomely picturized as well. Ok so I am a newly converted guru dutt fan

UT - you might or might not want to add - Mera kuch samaan lauta do from Ijazat. But I think you are looking for songs by male singers not female.

Saddzz I like jab koi tumhara ridhe thor de, tarapta hoowa jab koi chor de from your collection :k:

hey karina hehe... whats katra katra? lemme check it out.. hmmm is it from Ijazat?? man i love that soundtrack!!

my favorite one from that album is "mera kuch saamaan tumhaare paas parha hai."

UT, yaeh "yaara seeli seeli" is not really that old, but nonetheless a beautiful song :)

thanks rukhsaar :flower2:

i love the songs from that genre

heres a few more

  • teri galiyon se na guzrein gein hum aaj ke baad
  • pal pal dil ke paas tum rehthe ho
  • hum jis raste pe challe us raste pe thi preet khari
  • kehdoon tumhein, yan choop rahoon, dil mein mere aaj kya hai
  • aaj phir jeene ki tamana hai, aaj phir marne ka iradha hai

YES!! That's it! I had given up trying to remember the lyrics. Both the Gurudutt songs are wonderful, and you're right Rukhsar, the pyasa song was terrifically directed, he looks sick of life and the line 'yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaye to kya hai' is pure philosophy.

Sadzz, yup it's from Ijazat. Have you seen the video of kehdoon tumhein by dj aqil? it's pretty funny.

hey karina, na i havent seen the clip.. but ive been listneing to the remix and im so in love with it

whats this Pyaasa movie? whose in it? i think i may have to get it

im a big fan of the songs done on rajesh khanna

“hum the jinke sahaare, woh hoowe na humare, doobi jab dil ki naaiya, saamne the kinaare”

God! this song is making me teary

sadzz, you haven't sren gurudutt's movies? he was this intense actor/director/writer. he discovered waheeda rehman and the story was made into kagaz ke phool. he also committed sooicide, so goes the rumour, cause he fell in love with her. i can't remember what pyasa is about but it's watchable.

okies im confusing kagaz ke phool with kora kagaz (the one with jaya bachan prior to her marriage)

im gonna get it this time round, i always see it on the shelf..

ok another good song ---> mera jeevan kora kaghaz.. kora hi rahe ga

RukhsarBibi,

Ijaazat is by far my favourite Indian movie... nothing beats the likes of movies like Ijazat, Falak, Masoom, Sadma and Lekin.

I absolutely love Mera Kuuch Saamaan... I'm so tempted to start a second genre with:
Mera Kuuch Saamaan, Roaz Roaz AankhoN Taley, Yeh Waadaa Raha, Dekho Yeh Kaun Aaya etc. (all amazing songs!).

hey! UT u just reminded me of the song from Masoom… u know the one that goes

“tujse naraz nahin zindagi heraan hoon mein.. heran hoon mein
tere masoom sawalon se pareshan hoon mein”

the ghazal in the movie is very nice too :k:

Ijazat has some of the best lyrics, i loved that movie..

how about the songs to the movie saath saath

  • tumko dekha tho yeh khyaal aaya.. zindagi dhoop tum ghana saaya
  • pyaar mujse jokiya tho kya payo gi, mere halath ki aandhi mein bhikar jayo gi

and from arth

  • tum jo ithna muskura rahe ho, kya gham hai jisko chupa rahe ho
  • koi woh kaise bataye ke woh tanha kyun hai

im a sad case

yep Saddzz... Masoom's:
Tuujh se naaraaz nahi zindagi ;
Do NainaaN ik Kahani ;
Huzoor iss qadar bhi na itra ke chaliye...

all amazing songs...

I was about 8 or 9 when I saw the movie, and at that time, the only thing I liked was Lakree ki Kaathi Kaathi ka ghora... hehe :)

^ hahah same.. i used to pretend i was the older kid and made my bro and sis jump around llike maniacs  i must have been 7-8 hmm

but now i appreciate those other songs..

off topic, have u heard this ghazal “din aagaye shabab ke, anchal sambhaliye”? its a jagjit singh classic

yeah... wasn't role playing so much fun! :)

ummm... nahi... that ghazal duzn't ring a bell.... and when you say its a classic, I get depressed over the fact that I haven't heard it... cuz I happen to have over 125 of his ghazals on CD.
