Now that is a famous myth, considering the age differnece between Aqil Khan and Zebunnisa

According to a folktale, Akil Khan, the Governor of Multan, was in love with the princess and was able to send his portrait to her. Immediately, the Princess agreed to marry him. When Aurangzeb heard of what had happened he refused to marry his daughter to Akil Khan. In protest Zeb-un-Nisa refused to marry but Akil Khan. She gave away all her royal privileges and commenced living a life of simplicity. She became religious and generously distributed charity at the Garden of Nawa Kot, of which this tomb was eventually to be a part of.

When Akil Khan heard of what had happened he too repudiated everything. He came to Lahore as a fakir and reached the Garden of Nawa Kot. There he started living in a poor state and started eating from the langar that the Princess provided at the garden. The tradition at the langar was such that whoever wanted to eat something he would write it on a piece of paper and the royal cooks would prepare that. Akil Khan wrote a couplet on a piece of paper and it reached Zeb-un-Nisa who immediately understood that it was her beloved who had come to her Garden.

There is also a tradition that when Zeb-un-Nisa was constructing her garden, Akil Khan used to come there and work as a labourer. Zeb-un-Nisa insisted that he should leave, however, he refused to leave the Garden. These are all part of the local tradition whose authenticity can be easily challenged.

**The truth is that during the tenure of Akbar there were three people called Fatehullah Shirazi, Hakeem Gillani, and Talib Amli, who were all educated. They had a sister by the name of Sunny Khanam. She was a teacher of Jahan Ara. As she did not have any children of her own, she adopted two daughters of her brother, Talib Alim. One of these girls was married to a person called Akil Khan. The wife of Akil Khan died in 1050 AH. On the other hand Zeb-un-Nisa was born in 1048 AH. From these dates we can infer that there was a considerable age difference between Akil Khan and Zeb-un-Nisa, such that they could not have been romantic lovers, like the ones portrayed in the folk tales.

There is no doubt denying the fact that people had always perceived Zub-un-Nisa as a romantic tragic character, therefore her personality was fertile for a forlorn story of an unfulfilled love. Zeb-un-Nisa never got married which could have been another reason why people came up with such stories to explain why she didn’t marry.

in same manner rumors about love between razia sultan and her turkish slave were famous...while in reality they merely had a chance to meet each other....

actually our state board history books do not have enough material about Hazrat Aurangzeb's offspring.............:(

Being a long video and usage of Arabic and Persian words in speech, here is the main points of the speech:

(i) Akbar while inventing Deen e Ilahi, accepted all the creeds / faiths of India and adopted their traditions in Islam.

Akbar claimed that he is part of Din-i-illahi, he never said that it is Islamic or anything related to Islam, he was following his own religion

(ii) Akbar get murdered many scholars who opposed his religious views. In order to make happy Hindus, Akbar banned eating of cow’s meat and inter religion marriages. This lead to rebel from scholars of Sirhand.

But how eating meat of cow makes anyone more muslim, same was done by Zafar as well, Eating cow in a hindu majority country is considered insulting, as insulting as Maharaja Ranjeet Singh using Badshahi mosque as stable. The scholor from Sirhind was Sheikh Ahmed Sirhindi who later on conspired against Guru Arjan Dev and got it martyred, Even Pir Mian Mir opposed sirhindi

(iii) Jehangir get killed remaining nauratans of Akbar, as he thought they were behind faithlessness of Akbar. Mufti Zarwali pays gratitude to Jehangir for this. But Jehangir imprisoned Mujaddad because he denied to prostrate (sajda) before him.

Religion as always is best cover for settling political goals, new emperor wanted new cabinet of ministers

(iii) Coming to baba e Aurangzeb, Shahjahan (from 30:00 onwards in video), Mufti Zarwali said that he was a nice Muslim except for his drinking habits and the first religiously remarkable thing by Aurangzeb (at the age of 15) was to remind his father that drinking is haram and the fatwa that was given to Shahjehan by Molvis that ‘Sharab is halal for Shahjahan due to burden of Indian Muslims’ was wrong.

So how many muslims can really imprison his father if father is doing a haram thing, wasn’t jailing father also Haram?? Wasn’t killing brothers for worldly pleasure Haraam??

(iv) Even after imprisonment of Shahjahan, Aurangzeb didn’t call himself King officially until the death of his father and justified his act of imprisonment of Shahjahan by Aurangzeb was that he was promoting wrong people in Government affairs

(v) Mufti Zarwali from (34:35 in video) kosing Jawed Chohdri for talking against Aurangzeb on Express TV. He says that Aurangzeb didn’t kill any of his brothers and all died natural death or were killed by disobidient Jallads.

(vi) Now coming to Zebunnisa (37:40), Mufti Zarwali says that she didn’t get married as she was herself a scholar and refused to marry by saying the burden of books is enough for me.

(vii) Zaibunnisa also wrote Tafseer e Quran namely Zeb u Tafaseer. Mufti Zarwali says that Zebunnisa also had huge collection of books (including just 30,000 books on Fiqh e Hanafi).

No idea about zebunissa, though have idea about Prince Akbar II

Information regarding Mauryan empires comes through Greek travelers like Megastahnese who extensively wrote in his book Indica, though book didn’t survive but later many writers quoted his text, he recorded wrong that India has 7 castes while India had 4, but discrediting everything is not correct. Al-Beruni wrote about Hinduinsm in most scholarly way. Apart from that Aurangzeb is part of Sikh folklore as well because of his experience with Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh.

I just wanted to point through this video, how the masses are taught history through religious scholars. Me searching for Javed Chohdri’s material on Aurangzeb, which made mufti saheb angry.

Regarding European tourists, I just started reading a book written by Maochi (something) probably from Italy and reading his accounts of Mughal court and Indian society during Shahjahan & Aurangzeb period, I can’t help

What about Dalrymple's work and even Mark Tully's writing on India are excellent? Account cannot be said neutral unless verified by multiple sources.

Dalrymple is a great writer, his writings never seems biased and tilted towards any agenda (read propaganda). I love how he has written a chapter on Laal Pari - A Bihari woman migrating to Sehwan Sharif, Sindh in his book Nine Lives and how he portrayed the tolerance of Sindhi Sufis through this character.

But These Italian writers like Manochi tend to write all the rumors and things popular in market places without any authentic basis.. No doubt these books are good timepass and interesting like 'Alif Laila', but they do lack authenticity.

But muslim did raise objection when Sikh killed pig as pork pickle is part of Sikh diet, though Muslims couldn't stop it and they shouldn't have stopped us, Jat(Just Animal Type:D)

My point is westerner should not be discredited completely, Monochi may haven't understood the culture like Megasthanese missed many points in Indica, because it serves no purpose and Italians weren't credible power enough to ever rule India like superpower Britain. I watched 'Ghalib', 'Kehkashan' of DD on DVDs and 'Malgudi Days' when it was repeated on Sony TV. "Bharata Ek Khoj' is on my list to watch whenever I get time :)
