Women who are very successful in life and their careers tend to be very confident and very driven (not saying that other women are not confident and driven, but successful ones show it more outwardly). Most if not all men find that sort of personality intimidating. Even though women are now more equal to men, men still prefer to be the breadwinners, and still want to have that feeling of being the provider…thats just the way society works. Most men would still prefer a woman who is somewhat dependent on him. And successful women are usually independent - remember Beyonce’s song “Independent Woman”

Personally and talking from experience in my social circle, I would disagree that most men find a career woman intimidating. Its not an unusual concept in this day and age. Also if surveys in recent memory are to be believed, most women prefer to be housewives and their men to be the breadwinners. Its just how it is.

I believe a housewife can be independent and a career woman can be highly dependent. I don’t agree with your classification because I’ve been around some super aggressive and highly successful housewives. Success does not imply a career or whatever. Its relative.
