enough..
so lets talk reality and not fairy tales for a sec..
I come home from work, and see that begum has picked up the kids from after school programs, every day I help with dinner or the dishes before and after dinner. I then sit with my kids and my wife and we make sure the kids homework is done. I often help get their baths ready, and if i dont and my wife does, then i help them dry up and change into Pjs. we then go to play room and play games, or watch some kids show together. and then i read one of them a book, tuck them and its usually 8:30-9 pm by then. then begum and I hang out until bed time.
mornings, I wake up, go make breakfast for kids, coffee for begum and myself, come upstairs give her a coffee cup and start getting ready, while begum has gotten ready and is getting kids up and ready, makes sure kids are dressed and ready to go, either she or I will pack their snacks or lunch. I wait for the bus to come and put my son on the bus, come back, begum is leaving around then, give her a kiss goodbye, and get my daughter in my car and drop her at her school and then go to work.
I do my own laundry, take out trash, clean the bathrooms, keep all floors clean, make sure water softener has salt, furnace filter is changed, humidifier panel is changed, bulbs are changed, smoke detectors are tested and are working fine, cars are fueled and serviced, shovel snow when needed, and keep the yard sorted otherwise, keep driveway and sidewalks clear and clean, put up and take down holiday lights, clean gutters, trim trees, change bulbs, unclog toilets and snake out toys that get in there. summers I am out taking kids to the park, and winter I am with them in the basement as they ride their bikes or other assorted wheeled items. when they are sick, I stay home with them because I have flexibility to work from home if needed.
oh yes, the bedsheet is nice and white and clean and taut and fresh, I think its because begum and I both changed it last night..actually if i recall she took the old sheet off and brought the clean one, and i changed it.
Yes I am successful, and I love everything I do for my family, its not always easy and it means I have less time for my hobbies, and have to plan ahead for time with buddies, and watch less TV than I used to, and am even less on GS than I used to…
and you know what, I am not a anomaly, i see my brother, my cousins, my dad, my friends..I see no kings of the castle type in overwhelming numbers, a small percentage ..sure. But then there is a small percentage of women who are slobs and cant run a household even if they dont have a career, does not mean everyone is that way.
Doubt you can be a better husband PCG. sorry.
and neither can the whiners who are dying because they cant be arsed to cook one meal a day but have all the time in the world to post non stop on GS.
You think guys have it easy? no, guys dont have it easy, but guys dont whine, and they dont whine because they dont think putting effort for their loved ones is some god awful task. Yes..even the guy who expects to have his house clean and food cooked every day when he gets home if his wife is not working, he has not lived like some king while he has not been home from 7 or 7:30 am until 6 or 6:30 pm…working, dealing with colleagues, boss, clients, suppliers, deadlines, issues, budgets, targets..
