what is harisa? I have heard the name but never seen it i think
Harisa is a speciality of Lahore, cooked there for I believe centuries. Its found in 2-3 places in lahore. Its very small seekh kababs cooked together for a long time. I heard they cook for for the whole night. U can get chicken harisa on meatless days. They are eaten with best kulchas or roghani nans. I am getting hungry and jealous of all my friends going out eating in Lahore

Okay here is the latest.. I told one of my yank pals i will take him for authentic desi food at devon and go for nihari etc at sabri..told him that he may see stuff that could turn him off.. he inquire like what. I inform him of paye, maghaz etc.
He laughs and tells me that his wife is from ghana and the strangest thing he has eaten was fried monkey hands..I could not ask him how this thing is cooked but out of sick curiosity asked (and should not have) he tells me that they are made like buaffalo wings...YUCK
no spare parts for me… Except well kaleji is fine…

Same goes with food. Something disgusting in one culture can be a delicacy in another.
I have heard from friends who lived in Arab world that when Arabs roast a whole lamb or goat they do it with its head on and its eyes in the eye sockets.
These eyes are a delicacy and presented to the guest of honor in a feast.
