Perhaps you are feeling sleepy because you're low on iron. It's a common problem in women known as iron-deficiency anemia and it can cause fatigue. Make sure that you are taking a multivitamin to make up for any nutritional deficiencies. Also, eat a healthy diet. Foods like soda, chocolates, cookies, and ice cream give us a quick burst of energy but they bring us down very quickly as well, so they are not effective. Eat foods that will provide you energy such as fruits and veggies. Sweet potatoes, for example are loaded with nutrients and provide energy for up to 3 hours. Apples, bananas, melons, and kiwi are also good. And don't forget your protein (chicken, lean red meat, fish, eggs, and nuts).
Also, if you exercise during the day/evening, you will sleep better at night. And then you will wake up more refreshed and with hopefully greater conversations.
As far as enhancing memory is concerned. Reading something out loud helps some people remember information. Also reading something and writing it will increase memorization as well. And another tip is to write notes. Read the paragraph in your book and summarize it in simple notes in your notebook. And concentrate on reviewing your simple notes because memorizing info word for word in a book is too difficult. Notes are easier. Research has shown that body movement helps students become more alert and increases attention and learning and memory. This can be done by studying while walking.
Perhaps the reason why you're having trouble with memorizing is because of stress and pressure. A nice warm shower can help you relax. Or you can play light music in the background to calm you down. Another strategy is to simply take BREAKS! Most people don't feel comfortable studying for very long periods of time. It's better to study for a while, and then get up and take a 5-10 minute break and then come back to studying.

The key is repetition. The more you look at the material that was taught in class, the easier it becomes for you to recall it when you start to prepare for a midterm or a final. It's like retrieving a file that has been stored in your hard drive; the key is to copy the file onto your computer in the first place so you can access it later.
well, suhaina some times even i face the same problem, but it happened with me b'coz i play one day matches...... i mean trying to cover whole syllabus in just one day. I suggest you dont make any compromise with your sleeping hours, have few almonds n milk before you go to bed, no stress or tension...always take academics lightly.
Best time 2 learn is before dawn, u will never forget your lessons. Take a break after every lesson/unit/chapter.
