**in the west, a very studious student is NOT desirable...they look for a 'rounded' person. a student preparing for medical school doesn't just have to have good grades but he/she has to be a 'well rounded person' by volunteering in different organizations and be very knowledgeable about other disciplines. :)

that is sooo true.i dont like the system here.they have messed up all the kids,all gone mentaaal!really!and they are depressed kids trust me!
n as for the med school thing....they dont even give a dash about your extra-co,
i had a bundle of stuff to show off...no one cares here about anything apart from your grades and sifarash!
except for AKU here,no other med university bothers looking at your extra goodies!
