I am almost appalled at that strange logic now. STEM people actually find jobs and make money…because that’s how our world is
govt needs to support those who might not. (if we’re picking and choosing) Personally, I think everyone has a right to whatever education they want.
Just very confused about what careers people consider important (or are aware of?) here. I am pretty sure there is much more contributing to the making of the world as we see it and not just the handful of majors/careers thrown around in this thread.
When was the last time you made a loan payment? NLSC starts charging you interest 6 exact months after your course is finished, regardless of the fact you can pay them back or not ie have a job or not. If you’re doing a second degree then unless your institution is in an approved list of institutions, you can’t apply for an interest free status. If you’re in any form of internship period, even if you’re not getting paid, you can’t apply for a interest free status. Please don’t spread misinformation. Thanks.
In line with Ess post. Govt loans interest free. Upto 60 pct of ur needs met by NSLC LOAN. Rest loan from orovince. Grants available on needs basis. For professional courses banks give additional Loans - am paraphrasing from memory - check link.
There didn’t appear to be a need based criterion for loan repayment.
STEM is bs as well coming from someone who has a STEM degree. In fact, it should be TEM with M standing for Medical.
The bigger story is that some jobs have permanently disappeared and the younger generation has less leeway to switch jobs (where you get salary increase) since 2007. Businesses think that it is cool to horde all the money and use & abuse / dump people when you are done with them, but eventually it will come to bite them as china / india still can’t be the consumer market that america is at this moment.
But humans are known for short-sighted decisions for the short term riches.
They don’t have option to tie it to your income? Sure, you accrue interest but I think that it is better than take a hit on your credit history where loans get reported.
