TLK, you have probably not read the history behind this thread.
It is clear that the lady was not converting for salvation or even for purpose of validation of marriage. Of course if the guy had ended up marrying her and she did convert, we'd have one new muslim convert and a broken family.
But of course who are we to judge anyone's niyah. Maybe she would have proved to be the next aalima on the block.
