Stop trial and punish me, says Kasab

Re: Stop trial and punish me, says Kasab

Looks like Kasab is feeling “let down” by his handlers  This is a lesson for the wannabe jehadis across our western borders - you are only good for them as long as you are productive. If you get caught you are on your own !!

Hang me, punish me: Kasab pleads to court

Mumbai: Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only gunman on trial for the terrorist attacks on Mumbai, on Wednesday told a court he must be punished and pleaded that he be hanged for his crimes.

“I did not confess under pressure–I should be hanged if the court decides so,” said Kasab before a special court which is trying him for his role in terror attacks in November.

"I don’t want divine punishment. Hang me, please, for my crimes.”

“I want to be punished for what I have done. I made my confession without pressure. I have not confessed to get any leniency,” he said.

Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam argued that Kasab had not revealed the entire conspiracy behind the attacks and the trial should continue.

Nikam told Special Judge M L Tahilyani, who is hearing the case in a special court in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, Kasab’s “confession” is an attempt to prove that he was a “pawn” in the hands of masterminds of the terror attacks.

Nikam said he requested the court to ask defence lawyer S G Abbas Kazmi whether Kasab was aware of the implications of his confession.

Kazmi alleged that Kasab was being “mentally tortured”, but the Pakistani terrorist denied this, Nikam said to the media outside court.

“If the court wants to accept Kasab’s plea it can do so. I told the court my client has accepted his crime. I would want to know that legal implications of his plea. The court does not want to accept his plea, then his statement must not be put on record,” Kazmi had said.

Kavita Karkare, the wife of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorist squad’s chief, who was killed by terrorists during the attack, told CNN-IBN the trial must be finished now and Kasab “hanged publicly”.

“I strongly feel that he should be hung publicly–no more evidence is needed because he is the culprit,” said Kavita, wife of IPS officer Hemant Karkare.

Third day of revelations

Kasab, who made a dramatic confession before the court on Monday, gave additional details about the conspiracy on Tuesday. He said his handlers had given him detailed instructions for the attack on the CST Railway Terminus.

“I want to give a message to perpetrators across the border,” said Kasab.

Judge Tahilyani then adjourned the court for Tuesday, as the prosecution wanted more time to go over Kasab’s statements.

Kasab on Monday admitted before the court he was a Pakistani and narrated in chilling detail the events leading to the killing spree that left 180 people dead.

In a dramatic twist to the case, Kasab also recounted how he and his associates undertook the sea voyage from Karachi to Mumbai to attack 13 locations in Mumbai on the night of November 26, 2008.

He recounted how Lashkar-e-Toiba militants had trained him and then packed him for the attack on Mumbai.
