Please read your post again and try to make sense of the logic. Every country has poor people, but that does not stop them for aiming for the moon. But not many countries bow down before the terrorists and still claim that they supplied somebody else with weapons. I think it is just a matter of undue credit being claimed.
Elections in the southern state of Tamil Nadu where LTTE has a lot of sympathisers has amply shown that the conflict has not affected the ordinary people. There is definitely sympathy for the human cost of the conflict. Propaganda is rife about Phosphorous bombs being used and the like. People here do not like the LTTE after the assasination of the former PM Rajiv but definitely there is sympathy for the Tamil cause.
