Nopes, that's what I was saying. They will make a judgemental call .. how many sessions they need to bowl Pakistan out and will keep that many sessions with themselves... Normally people are fine with 4 or 3.5 sessions...
They won't be looking at finishing the match early........ :D

few questions
how can sri lanka predict that? things dont go usually to plan right?
if they have a score that cant be chased already, wouldnt they want the extra time to bowl incase they face some good resistance
i just want to undertand more clearly, dont take it as the wrong way :)

<< How do they decide, what can't be chased, only way to do is balance it with time, so they will declare when they know that Pakistan can't chase the score set by them, that normally fits very well with 4 sessions of play>>
So its a good balance between how much time we need to bowl out opposition and not leave enough time for opposition to score runs whatever may be the score, remember Hanif Mohammad 330+ came in fourth innings.... :D

i can see why they would do that since it still looks to be a good wicket for the batsmen once they get settled in
