To call the Srilankan Tamil conflict as a Hindu-Bhuddhist conflict is incorrect. I know a number of Srilankans - some Bhuddhist and some Hindu. Not once have I heard them express a single religious reference or issue in discussions about the conflict and violence. Many of the Bhuddhist Srilankans, while they do not on-purpose undertake pilgrimages to Hindu holy shrines, do stop and pray for a minute when they come across such a shrine.
In other words, to persist that there is a somehow a religious or religion based rift between Hindus and Bhuddhists in Srilanka is hebetudinous at best.
