In your link, it never says that LTTE is involved in recruiting people using temples. On the other hand, they uses the temples to gather funds mostly by threats and coercion. They use temple to further their cause just because many srilankans happen to come to these temples. Few of the names mentioned are christians infact.
obviously they're not recruiting in canada when their war is in sri lanka. funds are collected mainly from temples however, and several temples actually have pictures of prabhakaran. Not just in Canada but in UK and South Africa too. What coercion in western democratic countries, how can it be so widespread in countries with such strong rule of law? Obviously they play on religious sympathies much the same way you find jihadi fundraising going on in some masjids.
There is a sizable christian component, it is basically a nexus of hinduism and christian beliefs.
If you read about how they rationalize the martyrdom (suicide bombing) it is a mixture of Hindu and Christian ideas along with Tamil traditions.
