he is a comicbook superhero..dc comics, gets his power thru an alien ring, many green lanterns are around he is teh one for this planet
marvel have their own take on this phenomenon with the green arrow.

OK Ok X2 and Teggy, you got it. Green Lantern is used for several fictional superheroes from DC. Most famous one: Hal Jordan.
