Technically speaking yes its fair to blame shot selection, but that is only good as to what player is playing the certain type of shot. For a pull shot ideal person to watch is Inzi and for the hook shot no one is better than Ponting in the current era.
Younis, Yasir and Faisal all made the same mistake, they all went into the shot too early (Younis and Yasir right after tea) in their innings or resumption of innings after break.
The position in which they played to shot was not ideal either, they were stuck in between front foot and back foot, technically speaking you have to move back on your backfoot, or I should say rock back on the backfoot and you must have a good hand-eye coordination to play that shot.
Faisal is a good player from the younger lot, he has to antee up his game, a 50ty here and there will not be enough, more over I think Pakistani batsman should learn "how not to play "certain" {fishing outside the off-stump and pull/hook) shots in a test match"
life will be alot easy.

Asim Kamal deserves a chance and should be given a long run. I don’t think Faisal or anyone for that matter, can improve to become as great as Miandad because Miandad was great from the get go (he scored 163 runs in his very first test innings http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/pakistan/engine/match/63168.html). He was called the wonder boy, I don’t see any wonder coming out of his nephew though. Asim has shown a lot of promise from the get go, so he deserves the chance. I would even try him in ODIs.

The problem with Faisal is that he does not produce consistent result. Like Asif said he has shown glimpses of talent and grit needed to succeed at this level but not often enough.
We are not in a bad position. After a while, Akmal looked a part of game today and hopefully he will continue to hang around with Inzi. Anything in the range of 320-350 in the first innings of the test series is a good score and that will give likes of Asif and Rana something to bowl at.

Pak: 350 (Inzi c. 80+)
Saf: 275
Pak: 250 (+75 lead)
Saf (chasing 326) 250 odd, falling to Danish on the last day.

Asim Kamal doesnt have a pawwa as big as Faisal Iqbal :) He comes from a normal family with no source. Faisal Iqbal well.. his cousin is Dawood Ibrahim's daughter in law :D

in my opinion his is an incompetent selector, during his time he hasnt foune great talent besides probably asif who was spotted by aaqib javed and woolmer, most of the players were found by aamir sohail as selector, even though he is a battamiz person but he was a great selector, bari is just incompetant!

87.4Ntini to Inzamam-ul-Haq, OUT, Got im! And would you believe it, another dismissal due to a pull shot. Banged in short, and Inzamam goes for a pull, and sends it straight down the waiting palms at deep square leg. He didn't have to move an inch, the cherry just came hurtling straight to him.
