South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Good positive cricket from Pakistan. Specially Younis and Imran Farhat.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Not a bad day for Pakistan...though we should play this innings well for some good result...

Ciao!

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Tomorrow first session will be crucial. The commentators are of the opinion that the pitch will start to breakup on day 4. So a lead of around 200 is critical for Pakistan. Go Pak.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

I am very happy by the performance today. Despite those atrociuos decisions, our bowlers restricted the lead to hundred. Asif deserved his five-for, Kaneria finally struck the wicket-taking patch and even Rana pitched in with crucial breakthrough in the form of Gibbs. All in all it could have been a lot worse.

scores are even almost and Younis/Farhat played positively. So we are in with a chance in this match.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Need 220-250 lead tbh. Bowling is thin, esp seam attack with respect, only Asif is an intl quality pace bowler of the 3. He is a don, accepted, but Rana isnt test class, nor Nazir.

Danish has a huge role, but first we need to bat, bat and bat somemore, get 350.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

well got even with one bad decision younis khan was out plumb as well.if they can bat out the whole day tomorrow i think they have a good chance to win going into the 5th day.it can be multan all over again.

Good point Indian fan. I am glad you could see all negatives in Pakistani players and legends such as Imran.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Inshallah we will play out day 4 with a 225-250 lead

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Rana has greatness in him but it only comes out in bits and pieces. He has two modes. Short & wide and in-swinging yorkers. He just needs to get in the flow and get more yorkers than the short stuff.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

These guys are turning out to be pretty big babies...

I am really astonished at Nel's antics...

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

man what the hell is your problem.its all too easy to insult people on the net for people like you with no balls.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

I fear waqar's magic wasn't trasfered with a lasting effect.
And wonderful PCB sent waqar to never never land...

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Pitch had already shown signs of breaking up yesterday as Kaneria was getting some help from it later during the day so Kaneria has to shine in the second innings to support Asif.

Pakistan needs a big lead. I am not really counting on Farhat for anything substantial but hopefully he'll prove me wrong and go on to score some big runs. There is only two moe specialist batsmen remaining and out of those Faisal Iqbal looked totally out of sorts in the first innings so basically all rests on Inzi and Younis to get Pakistan a half way decent total.

If Pakistan can score anywhere between 220-240 runs from here on we would have a pretty good chance of getting Saffies out as they would then get to bat at the earliest in the wee hours of day 4 and then onto day 5 where pitch wont be as good as they have had it before. There were some balls yesterday that kept kinda low so maybe the bounce will come into play as well as the game goes on. All now depends on the first session, if Pakistan can score some handy runs without losing a truck load of wickets then we are in business if lose a couple of wickets early tomorrow morning then it would be very difficult ot set a decent target unless Kamran Akmal plays on those special innings that he played a couple of times agaisnt India last year.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

the match is evenly poised. Pakistan needs to have 250+ lead. I will be difficult to bat on 5th day. important thing will be getting through first session tomorrow morning. if younis and farhad give us good start, inshallah Pakistan WILL WIN

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

I think SA are slightly in front at this stage. We are effectively -1 for 2. A 250 lead is a must - ideally we would like a lead of 300+ but with a long tail in this match (Rana, Nazir, Kaneria and Asif) that's probably asking a bit too much - if we are to make a real game of it and much rests on Younis and Inzi to get Pakistan in atleast a safe position. Hope Faisal and Akmal weigh in with some useful runs too.

Time is also of the essence and if Pakistan can somehow bat out day 4 it would go a long way towards saving/winning this match

That said SA recently chased 300+ against India and they would feel confident about chasing anything less than 300.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Sorry bro, disagree. Rana is good in the ODI stuff as the emphasis is on the batsmen to make proceedings and they have to attack him. When batsmen are not time constrained, Rana cannot forced them into errors. He lacks control, and frankly will never make it as a test level bowler.

Some guys are diamond, polished from the start-Asif is this type.

Others and gems that need to learn on the job, Gul like. He has become a world class paceman thru hard graft.

Others just lack one or more key ingredients at test level, and Rana is one of them.

Bat all of day 4 would leave us in a very healthy position.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

Rana is becoming another Sami.

Re: South Africa vs Pakistan, 1st Test, 11th-15th January @ Centurion

What did I say that you found so insulting? truth is insulting? even SA commentators feel annoyed by Umpires decisions in favor of SA, especially Doctrove and including third umpire. Just few to mention for you:

Prince out LBW at 97, catch and bowled at 128 (third umpire couldnt find it even with technology), Gibbs out to Kaneria, Pollock out to Kaneria (LBW as well as Catch, either way out). But you didnt see any one of them, but got so excited about Y. Khan lbw, which was a hard decision for two accounts, one Paul Haris is left arm spinner and if he is bowling around the wicket to a right hand batsman (Y. Khan) then his angel is going towards leg side and could miss leg stump. Now we all see it hits him very low on the pad, but you have to remember if a batsman stride is so long forward, then it wasn't an easy decision.

No personal attacks, please . - Ehsan
