The way SA are batting at the moment, they might not have to bat again in this test and goofy Inzi thought that we could bowl SA out twice on their own pitches without Akhtar's services. It's clear that Pakistan have only two good bowlers - Akhtar and Asif (still not an out and out match-winner like Akhtar) - The rest incl. Umar Gul are ok but nothing special. Kaneria is over-rated
300 used to be a good first innings score back in the 70s and 80s but the game has changed so much now with the introduction of a minimum 90 overs per day rule. Remember there are 15 sessions in a test. Sides like Australia can easily score 300 in two sessions and a bit. Look England scored 551-6d in the first innings of the second Ashes test and still lost.
300 is no longer a good score esp. in away games. Pakistani batsmen can only blame themselves. They did n't apply themselves and contributed to their own downfall by playing reckless pull shots (no less than 6 batsmen got out in that fashion) thereby squandering all the good work of Younis and Hameed. 313 from a position of 183-2 was really poor.
In today's game a first innings score of 400-450 is a must against top teams otherwise you are just playing catch-up cricket for the remaining 3.5 days or so.
If I remember correctly in 2004, Pakistan scored 300+ in the first innings of the second and third tests against Australia but still lost inside 3.5 days.

98.2Danish Kaneria to Prince, OUT, Got him! Akmal almost messed up! Prince charges out and is beaten by the flight and by the turn. It was tossed up on the stumps, dipped rapidly and turned past Prince's legs and Akmal gathered it smartly, down the leg side, and tried to whip off the bails but his gloves just miss the stumps. But he recovered very quickly and got his hands down on the top of the stumps, and Prince's bat was on the line when the bails were dislodged. And that's lunch. A fine innings from the man-in-form Prince comes to an end.
