I am going to pak next month and was thinking of getting my bridal lengha from Sonia Azhar. I went to her 2 years ago and her bridal wear was amazing. Her embroidery was really different, like she uses alot of stones in her work and its all very intricate. lHowever at that time she quoted me 3 lakhs and personally eventhough her work was fabulous, I think that was 2 much. She said she would bring it down to 2 lakhs but then she cut would cut off more than 50% of the embroidery leaving me with a plain lengha- lol. Anyway my aunt's friend told me not to go there as she heard that she shows you one thing but gives you something else! Don't really want to risk spending so much money and then some 1 cheats me . Anyway has anyone got any personal experience with her, either with bridal wear or evening wear. Would be great to her your views if you have bought things from her. Thankx

Two of my first cousins has their bridal from her, They had to go back twice for issues with work and one of them 5 times!!! for fitting issues!

personally, she sold my joda to someone else two days before I needed it and had the guts to say it! regardless of me having given advance.
Enstyle magazine has real bride reviews and she wrote: Sonis treated her badly, was overpriced and she didn't get what she paid for.
I think Sonia azhar is the biggest mistake u could make, hope the info helps :)

Thanks so much for your reply. I will prob not be going there then as I heard sth similar from some 1 in Lahore. If your spending so much money you don't want to that happening - sorry u had so many problems. There is another designer that my mum went to see when she was in Lahore and she really wants me to go to him (Taufiq), and I have heard some really good reviews about him from people and we have some personal experience. Think its best to go where you have already been. There are so many designers in pakistan now who just want your money and they think if your from abroad its so easy to wrip you off.

Taufiq is an absolute darling - have dealt with him almost 4 times and it has been a pleasure everytime!
His stuff is more traditionalist, in terms of the work, fabrics and color although he tries to experiment with silhouette if you push him to it. As long as you love what he does, he is a pleasure to deal with. :)

Well they somehow always seem to be able to tell I am from abroad just by looking at me, eventhough my urdu is pretty good. lol
My sis had her 2nd day outfit made from him about 10 years ago when she got married. Other than that I haven't seen any of his work but he has a website now, and some of his stuff is really nice. Also he seems quite reasonable in terms of price. I have less than 3 weeks in pak so i am not going to go designer hunting as I did that 2 yrs ago: bought "brides and you" and went to see all the designers and believe me they were not that great in real! Taufiq seems like a real designer and easy to communicate with. I was even gonna ask him to make me my mehndi outfit!
So do you know any nice jewellers in pakistan. Don't really like the yellow gold jewellery. Have heard of Karat Jewellers in Empire Centre only?
have any one tried deepak perwani...i heard his customer service is same as sonia....

Deepak Perwani- went 2 see him 2 yrs ago and his collection was OK - no personal experience with him.
does any 1 have any personal experience with karma? Anyone ever ordered a bridal from there? There online designs seem gorgeous - especially one formal which is turqoise and orange for $710 - wow.

No 710 was for a plane formal! The bridals are quoted bw 2 and 3 lakhs - gorgeous bridal wear though.
