Re: Something rotten in Gwadar..
anti: Your argument about the need for Baloch graduates is correct but the rest of it less so..firstly as far as the Baloch nationalists are concerned lets discuss the points you raised:
About the Sardars/Nationalists: All Sardars are not nationalists (in fact quite the opposite)
About why they have not done anything for there area: If you are arguing in the terms of political power, the Nationalists have barely been in power at a provincial level for a total of 3 or 4 years since 1973 (prior to that baluchistan tended to be ignored even more so)
The Baloch provincial government is almost totally dependant on the federa government for revenues as a result it has almost no control over it's finances. Presently almost all the budget is going in salaries and debt servicing ( debts accumlated by waste and bein forced to borrow money at high rates to compensate for the deficit)
About Gwadar: Almost all mega projects are under the control of the federal government. The present governor ( and many others ) that have been appointed are not even Baloch, neither do the Baloch have any representation at any level as far as Gas, ports and other issues (you can count the number of Baloch senior civil servants on one hand) .
Your comment about inviting people to invest in the province again is a myth..unlike other provinces 90% of Balouchistan is in effect under the operation of the FC..the FC does not answer to the province solely...so basically how can you invite someone to visit when you have no control over the areas they maybe investing in?
Your comment about keep up or shut up: That is odd considering how the concept of deliberately turning people in their own area into a minority is considered against basic norms. Are you suggesting Pakistan place it's own citizens in reservations like the aborigines? If so why would any self respecting Baloch want to stay a part of Pakistan if thats what Pakistan is offering them?
