Its those who love pakistan who look more deeply into its problems. Ignoring it does not mean that the problem goes away. To realize and admit that a problem exists is the first step in resolving it.
Its kinda like saying, I love my brother, so I wont bother to see that he has a problem with drugs or has a learning Disability, I will just love him the way cuz thats the way to go. The critique has to be not just for critique, but with a focus to try and resolve the situation.
I could join in the childish boats of "we are better than you cuz we have 2 more species of fish than you do in your country" and the likes :)but that is simply childish
I feel that it is unfair to compare the economic progess of India or Pakistan with any developed country. Those countries never had the problems that we faced. It is OK to take the example of Japan, Korea etc and be impressed by their growth rates, but all said and done these are very small countries and achieving economic growth is relatively easier. Most importantly India and Pakistan have just too much diversity in languages, cultures, races etc. It is very difficult for us to have any kind of concensus on economic issues. People can't be forced into following certain policies (the way China does)!

People always want to go to relatively rich countries. Many Pakistanis will try hard to go gulf. Same religion. Russians are going everywhere. Nothing to do with religion.

Culture and Heritage section? Kash, I think politics is probably a better section for it as I see nothing here that would elude to either a cultural or heritage based discussion, or a discussion which is cultured in nature.
Somone was throwing about statistics of 89% of Pakistanis want to move abroad. Just wanted to know which esteemed publication has that number.
Again, Pakistan has issues, and many of them. I disagree with the manner they are discussed in, with people on both sides of the issue. Some say, oh we have issues but so do you, and others say oh yeah well you have such and such problem that we dont.
The fact is that Pakistan has more than it’s share of problems and challenges, they should be identified and discussed. The manner has to be that of mature and civilized people really trying to have a decent discussion with an objective. Otherwise we are just demonstrating a mob mentality, which by the way is the same the world over.
