don't let it out of the house because without whiskers they can get stuck in tight places, they can't sense the width of a gap without them..

I used to cut my cat's whiskers too, she was fine. I used to laugh everytime i would see her. Her whiskers would get very sharp and pointy...so I stopped cutting them.

also a cat needs its whiskars i think to determine whether she can fit through an area, so do leave them alone!

this whole talk of cats using their whiskers for balance etc is just a myth....I just used a ribbon to determine how sharp my cat's reflexes were...What I did was I put the ribbon on the floor and then tugged at it..this of course is just too tempting for a cat to ignore..so he just went after it....and he was just as sharp as ever...my cat's brother was there as well, whose whiskers r fine, and by comparison they both were about as quick and accurate at catching the ribbon. SO I think the whole whiskers thing for balance is not true after all
