If it isnt forbidden, I'd love to get a proper reading done.

Are you into vedic astrology?

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

what is my sun sign?

do u need by d/o/b for that?

If so, I'll PM it to you...

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

Sure we do, :D. Sun signs are according to month. The Sun is said to pass through each sign for approx 30 days of each year. The Moon goes through each sign much faster and thus they do not necessarily overlap. You can find your sun sign here www.astrology.com/allaboutyou/sunsigns. You can also look up your sun sign - moon sign combination here http://www.astrology-numerology.com/sun-moon.html

Although reading horoscopes through signs would be pretty general as 1 in 12 people will have the same sign. If you would want a detailed study you would need to have a personal horoscope made. For that you would basically need your date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. With that, you could get your horoscope made online or through someone who knows how to do it.

But I would also like to caution you regarding astrology. Astrology is a tool which can help mankind, but it can also hurt you if you misuse it. If you look at it as a guideline, it would be able to help you. But what happens some people become too dependent on it and will not even move without consulting an astrologer. For example if say in your astrology it says that the next year may have some problem in a particular field, say finance etc, you just have to be extra careful in that field, it does not mean you will have problems and your financial situation is going to be in turmoil no matter what, there may be some issues that may come up but if you have done your homework and are ready for it, the negative effect can be minimized. Same way you can use it to maximize the positive effects.

So if you use astrology in that sense it shall help you, otherwise it can also leave you handicapped and overdependent.

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

Oh I understand the dangers of over dependence. I am not likely to go down that route, just use it for fun and just cos I'm genuinely interested in it.

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

Some not too good predictions by one astrologer about the US.

http://www.jameskelleher.com/world.htm

July 31, 2004 - December 31, 2005

Mercury is placed in the eighth house of the USA horoscope, so its period will be filled with upheaval and change. Being the ruler of the tenth house, it will produce upheavals and changes in the executive branch of the government. This could signify changes or challenges to the executive branch, such as the resignation or death of the Vice president, resignation of key cabinet members, or even the death of the President. This period also brings a potential for a former president to pass away.

The last time the USA went through a Moon/Mercury period was July of 1884- December of 1885. During that time there was a change in the presidency, which resulted in Grover Cleveland becoming president. Before the period was finished, his Vice President, Thomas Hendricks died. Former president, Ulysses S. Grant, also passed away in that period.

…and some not so good for Musharraf.

the period of Ketu from Dec 26, 2000 - Dec 26, 2007.

The nature of the Ketu period suggests the loss of the president. It is unlikely that Musharraf will finish out the period as president. He will probably be removed by force or assassination.

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

  1. Islam is the oldest religion

Hinduism is not the oldest of all the religions. It is Islam which is the first and the oldest of all religions. People have a misconception that Islam is 1400 years old and that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the founder of this religion. Islam existed since time immemorial, ever since man first set foot on this earth. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of Islam. He was the last and final Messenger of Almighty God

  1. The oldest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion

A religion cannot be claimed to be most pure and authentic, only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is similar to a person saying that the water he has kept in an open glass, in his house, outside the refrigerator, for three months is purer than the water which has just been collected in a clean glass, immediately after it has been purified.

  1. For religion to be pure and authentic, it should not have interpolations, changes and revisions in its scriptures revealed from God

For any religion to be pure and authentic, its scriptures should not contain any interpolation, addition, deletion or revision. Moreover the religion’s source of inspiration and direction should be Almighty God. The Qur’an is the only religious scripture on the face of the earth which has been maintained it its original form. All the other religious scriptures, of all the other religions have interpolations, additions, deletions or revisions. The Qur’an has been in the memory of a multitude of people, intact in its original form ever since its revelation, and now there are hundreds of thousands of people who have preserved it in their memory. Moreover, if you compare the copies made by Caliph Uthman from the original Qur’an which is yet present in the museum in Tashkent and in Koptaki museum in Turkey, they are the same as the ones we possess today.

Allah (swt) promises in the Qur’an, in Surah Al Hijr, chapter 15 verse 9

"We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)."

  1. A religion is best, if it has the solutions to the problems of mankind

For a religion to be considered the best, it should have the solution to all the problems of mankind. It should be the religion of truth, and should be applicable to all ages. Islam is the only religion which has the solution to all the problems of mankind. e.g. the problem of alcoholism, surplus women, rape and molestation, robbery, racism, casteism, etc.

Islam is the religion of truth, and its laws and solutions are applicable to all the ages. The Qur’an is the only religious book on the face of the earth, which has maintained its purity and authenticity proving itself to be the word of God in all the ages. i.e. previously, when it was the age of miracles, literature and poetry and in present times when it is the age of science and technology. Moreover, Islam is not a man-made religion, but a religion revealed and inspired by Almighty God. It is the only religion acceptable in His Sight

Re: Some basic principles of Hinduism

It's quite foolish to compare religions if the goal is to prove some sort of superiority of one over the other.

Islam and Allah were unknown before 1400 years ago when Mhd became prophet. Ofcouse God has been around since time memorial if that's your point. If the name you use for that God is Allah so be it. But Islam is distinct from God - it started with Mhd the prophet.
