So Whats The Purpose of.....

^
i think our people back in pakistan watch more indian movies than irani :-) and indian movies are not irani movies with burqwa-clad girls and all nice stuff. :-) further dish has spiced up the competition in pakistan. for lollywood, its a matter of survival. :-)

Are you defending Lollywood or dissing Bollywood?

Why is the same thing bad when its in Bollywood, but a matter of survival, when it comes to Lollywood? Isn't whats wrong is wrong?

And why did you automatically assumed that Fret (or for that matter, anyone) who doesn't like Lollywood movies, must obviously prefer to watch "behoda indian" movies?

Faisal bhai and EP please keep fighting

Gosh it was so much fun to take a break from working on my paper and reading your argument :hehe: you guys provided me with the best laugh ever :hehe: :rotfl: thankyou  this thread rocks :hehe: :rotfl:

first : i'm doing both. :-) defending lollywood and dissing bollywood.

second : no, wrong is not wrong when you and i look at it. it prolly is wrong in your eyes because you want to see it that way. in my eyes, its right and a matter of survival. indian industry is not struggling like pakistani industry and it got the support of its government, people and our pakistani people :-) who apparently are very happy in watching what according to you is wrong.

third : its my assumption. if you don't like it then too bad :-)

happy to be at your service
i hope you will also provide us with something good & decent to laugh at

Ok, this is interesting. What exactly do you think should be the representation of movies produced in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan?

You think watching the knee-length-skirted, sleeve-less'd Reema/Neeli/Peeli is ok, cz they are muslims and are battling "for their survival"... but watching the same thing acted out by an Indian actress is "behooda" cz their government supports it?

Are you saying that Pakistani film industry is struggling because they don't have enough "be-hayayee" in it, and once they are able to compete with Indian film industry on this score, they will be ok?

sure EP bhai  go to shinoo’s yoga thread in family forum :hehe:

Well, its a chicken and egg question, if you ask me. They are poor, cz they make bad movies, or do they make bad movies cz they are poor?

In my view, its irrelavant.

I don't think it will be a big loss, if tomorrow we close down all the film studios on Multan road. For the most part, they produce nothing but trash, which hardly depicts the Pakistani culture anyway.

Instead, we should concentrate more on independant film producers and TV dramas. We used to have such good talent on our telly screens. Talent means good writers, directors, photography, actors... Very rarely I have seen an all-round good movie produced in Pakistan.. and I have seen so many of them (till about 1997). Unless they have improved drastically in the last 6 years, they are probably better off doing something else.

:grumpy:

u lack sense of humor if u cant appreciate my great jokes :snooty:

you talk so loudely about pakistani culture. can you elaborate in your own words what exactly is pakistani culture. as far as closing down the film studies is concerned, keep on dreaming.:-)

For simpletons, Pakistani culture is whats on the streets and homes in Pakistan. I have yet to see a Pakistani girl suddenly break into a fascinating song-and-dance routine in the middle of Model Town Park, wearing mini-skirts. Then again, I haven't been back to Pakistan in six months. Maybe they have evolved since then.

:mocking:

chalein atleast i’ve provided u w/ a joke n something to laugh at then init :stuck_out_tongue:

everything is there except song-and-dance :-)

ok guys so our so called film industry churned out trash after trash during the 90's and is still on the same role. But good efforts has also been made during the same decades. Daira, Ghazi ilm Dein Shaheed and Jinnah are to name the few and one should never deny that.

Independent film making hasn't been successful in Pak but now there seems to be a good, if not bright, future for it. Commericial films are also improving. Lots of threads on those films in this very room are a proof of that. And I beieve 5 years down the line we'll be looking at Pakistani film industry in a totally different way (and that I mean a positive way).

Daira and Ghazi Ilm Dein Shaheed... I don't know.. but by no stretch of imagination can we consider "Jinnah" to be a Lollywood movie.
