5 different outfit changes on a 2nd birthday? She must have a handbag when going to the grocery store? A three year girl is already dressing for oohs and aahs? I’m sorry, but that IMO is excessive and
OTT. That is not some natural born girly instinct to dress up, that is something that is being taught by your SIL and frankly, it sounds as ridiculous to me as this Instagram toddler is.
In this day and age of Kardashian-esque Instafame, putting that much emphasis on looks for toddlers and teaching them that looks, labels and dressing up are highly valued traits to have, puts a bad taste in my mouth. Especially for girls. it’s treading on thin ice. And the we all wonder where these self esteem issues and sense of entitlement comes from. Kids should be allowed to retain their innocence at this age and not be in a race to mature.
I never dressed my kids in “character” clothing either and I do take pride in dressing them like little hipster gents on special occasions or picture days, but becoming obsessed with maturing and accessorizing at this age? You have got to be kidding. The emphasis should be on neatness and grooming, not eliciting oohs and aahs and being a showpiece/Barbie doll.
