But I haven’t buttoned the jacket in the picture. Most of my suit jackets are shorter, but when I bought this one, I wanted a longer jacket in my wardrobe to mix things up, and this was it.

Just a suggestion; when you wear longer suit jackets, try to make the entire outfit a bit more casual, with jeans etc, or wear different/brighter-lighter colors with it. It plays up the jacket more that way. Since you’re wearing the same color jacket and pants + dark shirt, I think that’s why it comes off odd-looking in the picture.
