Re: So I bought my PHONE!

Tbh battery life is a bit disappointing in all new phones, its a serious drawback.

How many times have you dropped it so far? ;p

:cb: Once … my baby pulled it out of my hands !

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

For better battery management, the few things that I have found to be very helpful on the Galaxy are:

Screen brightness: Dim it down. 40% is sufficient for all practical purposes, unless you're in the sun. This will greatly increase the usage on charged battery.

GPS: Don't have GPS on all the time. I turn it on when I'm getting turn by turn directions, otherwise I keep the GPS off.

Powersaving Mode: Enable it.

Juice Defender: There is a free version available from Play Store. Install it. It basically manages and shuts down apps that drain your battery unnecessarily while not in use.

Our better yet, buy bunch of batteries from Amazon, and carry them with you. Charge them at home at night. My wife and I carry about six charged batteries amongst us. That is the beauty of having Samsung.

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

6 Batteries bro? :O

You must use the heck out of your phones. But yes, keeping extra charged battery(s) is an alternative too. Or the new JuicePack (basically power storage).

Lol, I know that sounds excessive, but unfortunately if you have GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi on and you are also taking pics, your phone is not going to last more than few hours. We were visiting bay area and were out every day for many many hours. That is when all the batteries came in handy. Two in the phone, two getting charged in hotel, and three in her bag.

@teggy bhai, pl pardon my tech ignorance, is it true that if you use your phone excessively , after a year it starts lagging and having problems? Read it somewhere on web, especially about Samsung phones.

Thank you Teggy for those tips !
@ TLK - 6 batteries... !

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

Have an app like Clean Master to clean cache and worse case scenario, do a factory reset though I kind of detest that option since I have to go back and disable all the kachra service provider apps.

Btw, is there an app like Juice Defender on iOS?

I started using battery doctor before on the iOS landscape, but Battery doctor was inaccurate in Android (gave wrong times on how long to charge) so I deleted that. iOS 7 seems to have been sucking battery dry more rapidly, unless that iphone 4s's battery is past its prime.

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

What Doppleganger bhai said are good suggestions. When the phone starts to get sluggish and you've trimmed all the unnecessary apps, do a full reset. Make sure to back up all your stuff first. I'm not sure if it's brand-specific or just the nature of the operating system in general.

Not sure if iPhone has Juice Defender, but then again iPhones retain their charge far longer than their Android counterparts, specifically Galaxy (personally speaking.).

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

So, I downloaded this juicing app on my Note 2and lo and behold, I don't see any difference in battery life. I was on the balanced setting which said that I should have noticed a lot of difference, but I still went to 80% in a couple of hours without even using the phone.

Coming to think of it, any "benefit" that this app might give would be negated by its running in the background and hogging the RAM, hence wastage of the precious battery life. If you are on the new jelly bean (or even ICS), then stick to the power saving feature as that is actually built-in by Google itself.

Re: So I bought my PHONE!

I got mine in black. Great battery life. See the screenshot from this weekend.
