Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Thank you very much TLK. Wishing you continued success!!

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

TLK , what are your targets like? do you have to achieve them on a monthly basis? quarterly basis?

Also is someone aims to be a structural engineer , what education and qualification should they aim for ?

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

how does a day at your work look like? how many hours are you at work? do you ever have/need to work from home?

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Thanks bro

By targets, if you mean a complete product, then we have a rate of 31 planes a month, which is being increased to 42 planes/month in next 3 years. For my projects, timelines are different.

Most of my daily work involves interaction with diff engineers to help me complete the task in hand. I use computer a lot, though many of my references come from hard bound folders and published stress notes. I do work from home but not on recurring basis. Its mainly because at home, I just have my laptop, while at office, I have my peers and the stress notes library available.

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Question: Can you arrange for a private plane for your wife?

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

OK serious question: I see that you are experiencing much more satisfaction working in aerospace than you did in the auto industry. What is the main reason for that?

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

:(

:D no

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Answer my other question.

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Other than the fact that I have a better compensation package, I also realized that contract employees (that I was for the first year), are not treated as a third class citizen in aerospace industry. It was not the case in auto industry. When in 2003 or so, auto manufacturers decided to give a 7% pay cut to all the contractors and someone brought it up in all hands meeting, one of the VP arrogantly said 'they [contractors] should be grateful that they have a job and stop complaining about paycuts". One can imagine that it probably hurts the self esteem of a contract employee.

Karma works at every level. The same arrogant auto executives had to beg for money from Govt to bail them out. It was yours and my money. The money from same people whom they laid off or gave a pay cut to.

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Missed that part.

I am a civil engineer so that is the education you need. Civil engineering with masters in Structural engineering is the best combo, however one can come from mechanical engineering background too

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

SO it's the job culture, environment?

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK

How about growth? What growth potential do you have in terms of salary increase and job responsibilities? [trying to figure out if that luxury SUV is coming soon or not :D]

Re: Sneak Peak Series - Our Guest is TLK
