you got me there Yeah, i was indeed surprised to know you smoke. I had this idea that sensible folk don’t smoke, until i joined college. Then i changed my view to sensible girls don’t smoke. Desi girls in certain parts of India smoke homemade cigars! I thought probably education and awareness would prevent it. But i guess girls are as tempted as boys to try it out. The alcohol part isn’t that surprising though, i know a lot of girls who booze a bit.
Yeah, i understood what you said about your mom accepting your smoking…just tried to be a bit funny, guess it did sound a bit offensive. Just that i can’t picture my mom watching me smoke! My dad ,maybe, coz he smokes like a chimney and he’s warned me only about smoking with his money.

Ananya, I got caught by my brother, he wasn't impressed, I made some crap up that I found them on the train and didn't want the fags to go to waste! Dumb huh!
I smoke in front of my mom, but not my dad, even though he knows I do, I'm an adult, but I still can't bring myself to smoke in front of him. My parents realize that I'm a grown up and have my own life and they have learned to let go. That's kinda cool. I didn't start smoking out of rebellion, I started smoking when I was 18 and had just finished a series of night dives and came back to the boat, an Arab friend of mine offered me a cigarette and I took it, it felt sooooo good. Been smoking since then.
Ananya, you might just smoke 5-6 a day, but if you think you can quit whenever you want, I think you're dillusional, try quitting and you'll find out just how addicted you really are. People who don't smoke just don't understand how hard it is to quit.
Oh and as far as looking at someone's lungs after they have been smoking, that doesn't work either, my fiancee worked at a genetics engineering firm and I've seen lungs blacker than tar, but no effect, didn't motivate me to quit.
Speaking 'bout 'em desi gals smokin - i haven't seen a single one do it outa habit - though many do it for fun .
As for us poor desi guys - they think that a mere fag can make a chic more darin in actual life - i dont think so !
Quitting indeed is tough - but i know ppl who been doin chain for 20 odd years n took a day to quit - n yeh that lung picture really helps 'em in doin so :)

Smoking :)My! That brings back some wild memories.
I tried it a couple of times some while back but just for expereince and well found out that breathing in this city and smoking are the same ;) So I quit it for good. Anyway, it wasn't of a thrill.....boring I must say.
I did smoke till March last year and then I just quit cold turkey. I had some cravings for abot three days and that's it.
And believe me I have never ever felt more energetic in my life.
Now I can't even stand it. And you know what? My Grandfather died from it.
As for chewing tobbacco. that is simply disgusting. We have certain obligations in life to other people and to make them puke every time they look at you is not one of them. Sorry Queer. But I usually look people in the lips and not in the eyes(sometimes I do). And believe me it is not a good sight to look someone with tobbacco in their mouth.

Since they don’t like this, whats the point. Girls smoking rolled cigars, huh... cool. My mom says I remind her of her naani who used to smoke a hukka! :)
Nageena, I am not surprised with the reaction of ‘desi’ actors! :) And that bit about finding fags on train was quite dumb hehe. It wasn’t the rebellion thing with me. I live alone (maybe I was rebelling against myself!), and just started smoking an year back. Most of my friends smoke, I used to borrow once in a while initially then started buying my own .. that was the turning point. I do intend to quit, you guys have motivated me to try it sooner than I had thought. I’ll give it a shot after my current packet finishes.
