Less sleep, more active is the person and more calories burned.

( But adequate sleep for being otherwise functional is around 6-7 hours)

No credibility of this theory at all.

The studies quoted are junk at best. These are not really scientific studies per se.

The designs are flawed and these may be considered small 'observational' so called studies.

It is well known that obese and overweight people sleep less.

These are not really active, well controlled, prospective, case controlled studies showing that sleeping for X-number of hours will make someone lose weight and sleeping less than X-number of hours will not.
