One thing about the Lankans, once they are on a winning streak, they become invincible... Remember how they crushed every team (including india and the aussies) in the 96 world cup... Right now they are on such a roll, and it would be hard to get past them...

Steve Waugh in my eyes is the 2nd greatest captain of all time after Lloyd. Just couple of losses and he is dropped, that is ridiculous, eventhough the Aussies have been doing preety good recently but I think the real test for him will be in the world cup where its a do or die situation.
The way Australia cameback under the leadership of Waugh in 99 WC after loosing to NZ and Pak and went on to win was a true example of how good he was.
Steve Waugh is the best thing ever happend to Australia since Don Bradman for the board to reject him like that was really stupid.

Okay If I accept your logic then why were Australians knocked out of ICC Tournaments in 1998 & 2000 with Steve Waugh in the Team. Ohh and what happened to the greates fighter and match winner Michael Bevan ?? Greatest Wicket Keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist and Newly crowned Bradman (by Waugh himself) Hayden ??
Not to forget the Final Frontier where they lost to one man attack of Harbhajan singh. ??

Yes the credit is rightly given to the Lankans.
They outclassed the world champs themselves, there is no doubt but for some people to jump around saying the Australians are a bad team.
Once again this is a knockout tournament, anything thing can happen, there has never been favirote who has won the knockout.
The Australians were the favirotes in previous 2 but 2 different teams went on to win it.
The guy is going through a bad patch, he is a world class batsman who is respected by many, he has won more matches for Australia then your little master ever will in his 300 ODI career.
You are so happy like Australia just a lost a test series to Srilanka in a humiliated fashion, it was a bad game for them and the Srilankans captalized on the opportunity.
Adam Gilchrist and Hayden are all great batsmans as well, they humiliated the best bowling lineup in the world just couple weeks ago.
