For acne and other skin issues…sunscreen. I know it sounds like such a simple step but a lot of our acne comes from sun exposure so a good sunscreen is important! Minimum is SPF 40. Clinique has an excellent one. Apply over your moisturizer.
For acne:
-Change your bedsheets and pillow case regularly - this WILL help
-Apply a sunscreen of at least SPF 40 DAILY
-Increase water intake
-Do not wear make up to sleep
-Keep your hair out of your face…NO BANGS…pin them back
-Do not over exfoliate…meaning exfoliation twice a week is okay but no more than that
-Make sure your make up is oil free, fragrance free, hypoallergenic and you’re not wearing too much…let your skin breathe
-Do not pick at your pimples or touch your face a lot…the oils from your hands will make it worse
-This is a pretty good moisturizer:http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P188306&om_mmc=GoogleBase&_requestid=42976&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=1027465
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser…tone with a mild toner…again…Clinique makes a great one. Moisturize and then sunscreen.
thanx reha for tips. firstly i don't do makeup. it is once in blue moon. even i apply lipstick once in a month whenever i go out. and i am doing compltely acting this tip.
and dear for my sis clinque is best . and anyother offordable brand? suggest.
L'oreal has some great ones. Skin tends to look dull if you have oily skin, make sure you cleanse really well like Reha said so blackheads don't form. Follow the cleansing with a toner to remove excess oil and 'close' u're pores.
Uzzie, here you go... this is Gina's basic Ubtan recipe ..
1 cup besan
1/4 cup milk powder
1/2 cup cinnamon
4tbsp wild turmeric
1/2 cup almond powder ( powder along with their peels)
Since you have oily skin, add half a lemon to it ... That should help your skin ...
Thank you! your name has made me hungry :(
Also Reha, i've got city block by clinique. I just personally after going through so many sublocks think sunblock just does not suit my skin, i need an oil free one!
ive read on the net abt many facepack glowing, removing tan but its difficult for me to find all the ingredients.. but i have some freshly crushed turmeric and sandalwood i look evrywhere cudnt find it.. finally i found this ayur facepack containing sandal , multani mitti, calamine powder and kaolin powder.. will this mixture be ok to use? should i add also besan to the mixture?
Ginaaaa help plz! As mentioned before I keep getting these ugly red painful spots on my chin which I pick oops I know i shouldnt but once ive picked them a few days later im left with a mark, I know these are hormonal spots but any idea what I can do or use to help prevent this. I went into the body shop to look at their tea tree range the lady advised me not to use tea tree as it will be to strong for my skin. the rest of my face allhumdillah is fine its just the chin..
I have no self control :( Finally got rid one spot and can already feel the second one coming through is there no preventation for this :( Also what cleanser toner moisturizer would u recommend? I was using clarins combination range however I found after a while it leaves my skin oily am now looking for a change so any recommendations please? & thank you so much ur a star x
Tea-tree cleanser and toner.. or you may even use rosewater as a toner. I recently tried a sample of The Face Shop's rice-water cleanser this one is the BEST if you have oily skin. Use a water-based moisturizer though.
Have you tried any products from Neutrogena, Noxema, Murad etc?
The only product ive used from the neutrogena range is Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating wash. I have combination skin its not oily alot just a bit on the forehead..
Hey Gina,
I get spots on my forehead and near my lips, and because of which my forehead & uper lip area has gotten darker compared to the rest of my face.
Just last week, I bought Body Shops Vitamin C skin refiner, and those Vit C capsules that they do which is meant to revive your skin. And to reduce spots, I bought their Tea Tree Gel & face mask.
I'm really hoping that these products will work their magic. Is their anything else i can do to add to this?
No, just stick to these products for now and Inshallah you'll begin to see a difference. If you have dandruff, have it treated and try and keep u're hair off u're face. Do moisturize with a water-based moisturizer as tea-tree products are usually very drying.

if u and ur sis both are facing dull complexion issue maybe u should review ur diet. add more iron and vitamin C rich food to ur diet, lots of veges, greens, fruit, Omegas and fluid will def make a diff to ur skin. use supplements too. reduces sodas, sugary stuff and bad fats Also regular exercise (15-30 mins a day) will increase blood flow and giv ur skin a glow. gentle exfoliation atleast once a week is also imp and so is good night's sleep. ppl who stay up late at night n sleep more during day also get dull faces. remember healthy body brings healthy skin. no brand can do anything unless u follow these basics.
What should I do for ma 5 years old Deep acne scars ??? Home remedies not working and skin peelin, laser and all such things are either too painfull, having bad after-effects or expensive...
I read in thread about vitamin E oil and somewhere about vitamin C serum.
Please Help me.
Vitamin E oil can make ma skin too oily ... hey na???( thought ma acne problem has reduced) but um still scared of being so much oily...
coz of acne scars... ma face look so tan than the rest of d body... and in pakistan, we don hav much authenticity for beauty product unless we have knowledge like u have :)
by deep scars if u mean pitted scars they won't go with any home remedy. with peels they won't go. they might become less noticeable but they'll still be there n noticeable esp if they are more than one or two. now since u r in pak i don't hav much advice but from wat i hav researched so far, skin needling( derma rolling) does help them. u need to find a good skin specialist/accupuncturist n talk to him abt it. see if this treatment is available in pak. it is harmless n not too painful either but u hav to be consistent.
