Skin Queries~

Doh! I've just re-read your above post in which you posted the answer to my question! But please tell me, am I using it in the right manner?

Twice a day is too much! Every alternate day... please!

Re: Skin Queries~

oops! I guess I am a bit jald baz...

and you replied so quick - you r a gem!

hi Gina
ive started using neutrogena pore refining cream which has AHA and retinol to clear up my spots due to pigmentation - i apply it at night only, and then apply a neutrogena oil free moisturiser on top - in the morning i just use the oil free moisturiser plus sunscreen -

now can u tell me how long i have to use this cream? 8 weeks? or all my life? and i plan to go swimming on saturdays, from 5-6 pm, its a covered pool, but not indoors, with a sunscreen, is that ok??

It's best to stick to one product for atleast 5 weeks before switching to another..if the products suits u're skin, use it as long as u want.

Even if the pool is covered, wear u're sunblock... even if u're destination is a 2 min walk.. wear a sunblock! :)

Re: Skin Queries~

=/ my acne is not going away .what do i do.

i think i have been destined to stay ugly:hinna:
i have been taking good care of skin, drinking water (just in case if my body was dehydrated or sumthing) ,avoiding junk food aswell but the pimples pop up:crying:
i have been doing everything that one needs to do to cure acne:crying:

Hi! Gina I was wondering if you could please recommend a good face mask to use for normal-dry skin. I normally apply besan, haldi and rose water, however, I am in the southern hempisphere and it is winter here at the moment so I don't think I should continue with this as it dries my skin out even more..

Also, I have started using a new moisturiser..it's from the Biotherm range. Is there anything better for my skin type or will this suffice?

Thanks so much!

Besan soaks-up sebum (natural oils) and makes the skin furthur dry.. a good mask for normal/dry skin is:

1 tablespoon milk powder
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp honey

This is an extremely nourishing mask as well..Biotherm is great, I love it.. but it's not moisturizing enuff. For winters and dry skin, switch to a heavier moisturizer.

Have u been using an anti-bacterial facewash?

Try a tea tree toner.. if nothing is working then perhaps it’s best not to wait and see a derm. Some cases require a long dose of antibiotics combined with other topical medicines to control.

hi Gina,
ive been using neutrogena anti wrinkle night cream for about a week now...it contains retinol only...and now my skin has started peeling off a little in certain patches on my chin and cheeks...can i combine a body shop vitamin e day cream moisturiser to go with it???

does vitamin e interfere with retinol by any chance? i read somewhere that vitamin c interferes with retinol...thats y i ask...

also, is it normal to have skin peeling like this? i have oily skin, but no acne - just wanted to lighten it a bit and get rid of pigmentation marks on my cheeks, thats y i got the retinol cream...also using body shop tea tree oil face wash - truly wonderful face wash it is!!!!!!

also, how normal is such flaking? shud i reduce use to every alternate day??

i also have a 3rd question; i swim in a covered pool and i could SWEAR that the cholorine (or something else in the pool, i dont know) spoils my skin tone and complexion - i always end up with uneven looking skin a couple of days later - im seriously thinking to stop swimming now!!! is this normal? does anyone have any explanation?

Re: Skin Queries~

Hi Gina... Have a couple of qnz i needed answering whilst reading this thread. Firstly i wanted to know if there is any natural alternative to using sunblock? Ive actually never used one an im 21, I just generally tend to keep out of the sun coz i hate it on my skin. What are the affects if i dont use a sun block? I hate using creams on my face, they feel so heavy at times. I have an estee lauder one sitting on my shelf unused after the first time, it did have and spf of something too cant remember but wondering if u cud suggest a light one. I usually just moisturise with primerose oil after cleansing.

Also wanted to know if you could suggest a decent primer. Thanks =)

Re: Skin Queries~

Q: I never had pimples on my face and my skin used to be very dry. Now its winter and my skin is no where close to dry. My moisturizer is sitting there getting dust. Even my hair have become bit oily and shiny with out any oils or creams. Is this normal ? I m liking this change except the pimples on my face. any solution ?

i figured out what was causing me acny.It was me neglecting the water intake .Now since i m drinking enough water no new pimple/zit popped up and old one cured but the only thing left are some ugly scars.any remedy to get rid of them.I am using olive oil

Re: Skin Queries~

Re: Skin Queries~

hey gina im really breaking out ( da pimple hurts in side my skin )on my forhead alot nowadya b4 i never breaked out. my skin used to be nice and soft & clean , i used to use clean& clear cleanser and then my cleanser got finshed soo i bougth neutrongena deep clean acne grape pink cleanser for my pimples but my face got to dry, so now its been a weak i bought dermaglow foaming cleanser. plz plz help me out my face looks so disguesting now and doesnt look clean and fresh and soft. any home tips anything that u could help me out.

p.s my skin lip area is dry ad my nose is oily and my age is 20, so wat would u rocamend for me

Flakiness and peeling is normal with products containing retinol.. don't combine anything with that product but apply u're vitamin E cream after a gap of an hour.

If u're skin turns dark and patchy before peeling-off then def use it every alternate day.

No natural alternative for sunblock :) it's very important.. prevents tanning, sun spots.

Apply u're sunblock 20 mins before stepping-out..

A good primer wud depend on u're complexion and texture :)

Olive oil isn't the best thing to put on acne prone skin.. :(

Drinking more water won't 'pop' the pimples.. it's just good for maintaining a healthy complexion.
