Hi all! I’ve been a lurker of these forums for quite a while but I finally decided to register and this is my first post! Woohoo! ![]()
Rightio so here’s my problem (It’s gonna be a bit of a long post but I hope someone can give me some advice)
I’ve been told by quite a few people that using the glycerine, rose water and lemon juice mixture is a good toner for the face and it evens out the complexion. So, I tried this out about 2 weeks ago…but after a couple of days of using the mixture the corners of my mouth and my eyelids got really really dry! It got to a point where my skin in these areas was giving me an itching and burning sensation so I immediately stopped using the mixture and I went to my GP.
They told me that I had simply had an allergic reaction and that my skin should be fine within a week. They prescribed me 1% hydrocortisone and aqueous cream. tbh, I was wary about using the hydrocortisone so I only applied it very thinly as prescribed for a week and now i’ve stopped.
Alhamdulillah the itching and burning sensation has gone and the dry patches on my eyelids have gone. But, the corners of my mouth are still very dry and the whole of my face is extremely dry. I’m constantly having to keep it moisturised with the aqueous cream otherwise I just get really flaky skin and it just looks like I’m shedding my skin like a snake! :teary1:
I know it probably sounds really silly but this is quite distressing for me…I honestly don’t know what to do! ![]()
Any ideas on what’s happened to my skin and what I should do? I’m thinking of trying the Vitamin E cream from The Body Shop and see how that works out.
I should also note my skin isn’t normally sensitive and I’m not allergic to anything…which makes this even more of a mystery.
I'm so sorry for the essay but thanks for reading it! I’ll really appreciate any help!
