^ I have read in Wikipedia that thatta was sacked by the Portuguese as the ruler asked for their support but then refused to pay them. There would be different factors for the decline if Muslims a big one being the Muslims stopped their kids from getting educated as they were wary of western influence. Maybe thy were justified considering they were feeling subjugated.

By 1843, when British conquered Sindh, Muslim majority was already living in rural areas. Due to weak Mughal rulers of Delhi after Aurangzeb, certain agreements were signed with East India company that were harmful for Sindh’s economy. There are some reference to such agreements in Shah Latif’s poetry. Will add later
