Let’s look at glass half full. Buildings in US are getting more and more efficient. This is a major portion of electricity consumption. So step in right direction.

US electricity consumption has been trending down for last few years.

HEV and PHEV sale picking up..With increased renewable penetration win win. Synergy anyone?

Chicago bans big stores from providing plastic bags. Passed 36 to 10 in city council. Mayor Sri Ram Emanuel applauded this vote.

Starts only Aug 15 for stores greater than 10000 Sq ft. Aug 16 for smaller chain stores.

Dine in and take out restaurants exempted.

Speaking of plastic bags, may sound like a broken record. How difficult is it to carry cloth bags? Hoe difficult ISS it to reuse plastics small bags that is kept next to vegetables in supermarkets. Do we have to be so mindless? And simply keep using fresh bags each time for vegetables?

A colleague interrupted our meeting. For a good cause. Was speaking abt his PHEV. PHEV really make sense in areas that have electricity generation from relatively clean source. Our region is hydro. So really makes sense.

Where electricity produced by coal it’s not clear if PHEV or EVs make sense.
