Beenish , this is what I do :

Take about three tablespoons butter or margarine , two tablespoons of olive oil … 5 tablespoons of sugar … whisk it in the food processor for a minute …

Then add 5 tablespoons maida or self raising flour. two eggs , half a spoon of baking powder , two tablespoons chocolate coco powder … Whisk it all again for a minute ..

Next add , half a teaspoon of vanilla essence … quarter of a cup of fresh milk … whisk it all again and pour it into the cake tin.. ( I also like to mix walnuts and some crushed coconut into the cake mix )

Leave it in the oven on medium heat for about 30 minutes , chck with a dinner knife if its done from inside … if not then give a few extra minutes on high heat … and the cake is ready .. enjoy ..

CB, isnt maida too less to make a normal sized cake…or is it a single serving? …i dont know…i was just going through plain cake recipes…found yours quite simple…but i am kind of doubtful about maida…if you are around then please do let me know…because i am going to try it today:|
