The nightmare and memories of partition are not like a graze or bruise, it has taken over 50/60 years to come to terms with 1947... Be it for publicity or anything else at least some thing positive will come out of this.

Besides people want to cover up a lot of what happened in the partition.
What i gather most from those dark days is that idiots used faith as an excuse to do thier devilish deeds.
The true faithfull on both sides simply did thier duty and sadly it was those that paid the heaviest price.
My mentor was a hero from Nagpoor... He saved scores of Hindus from so called Muslims but when the Indian army (at the time controlled by the British) moved in they told him to move out,.... never mind thank him for the job they should have done.
To this day there are fammilies in Nagpoor who salute his courage.
Socrates... Muslims were no angels at partition. Atrocities were committed on all sides fuelled by reckless decisions made by the British and Indian politicians.

To be honest i blame most of it on the Imperialist British and to this day they are still stirring up troube as are Americans.
The British left their legacy of divide and rule in Kashmir. Like giving one bone to two dogs. They knew that if everything was left above board then in years to come, India and Pakistan would be very powerful economic power houses and very friendly terms, and South Asia would not need the British. In this way India and Pakistan have been enemies from 1947 and thus enabled foreign players to meddle in our affairs and keep us from reaching any solution, which is in their interests.

Also the partition ruined centuries of efforts by many great people on both sides.
I am not an enemy of Hindu's and Sikhs i am an enemy of those who are my enemies.
Many a Sikh and Hindu shares much in common with me... despite the fact i am not a native to Hindustan the fact is we all helped make south Asia what it is and we all need one another.
India would not be so great if it forgets the Muslim contributions... and much as i am proud of the Islamic republic i too recognise that there was a rch culture here before us and we should not destroy it but live alongside it.

Thats a nice gesture, alot of people are soo cynical, if someone attacks you, its bad, if someone defends you, its a sham, if someone likes you, its fake, if someones helps you oh publicity stunt..
are we never happy, why do even need them to rebuild anything, if they did indeed cause the collapse in the first place, so what, are we muslims really as innocent and victimised as we like to think of ourselves. look around us, sunni muslims against shias, vice versa, near my local mosque i came across lots of muslims giving out leaflets trying to stop ahemdis building their own mosque....who cares. who are you to stop someone doing so, and who are we to say another sect is not muslim....
we muslims never appreciate anything, no wonder we are suckers.
so what?? if that was me, i wouldnt have bothered to help rebuild in the first place had it been me who caused the collapse.
We have to understand that we do the same things, we are just as abusive, violent, volatile. i doubt if we burnt down a gurdwara then we would also be helping to rebuild it again.

Even to this date temples are being burnt and destroyed. Just a few years ago a big temple in Pakistan was destroyed to make way for a new mall.
Temples were burnt and looted all over Pakistan as were mosques in India. Take off your rose tinted glasses and see the real Pakistan!
Only last month a Mandir was in the process of being destroyed in Lahore. In Lahore there is only one mandir that is left, where there were hundreds before.

Yeah same could be said of many areas in India were masjids were plenty now there are few.

Like i say blame the British whose fault is obvious from the start to finish.
I think that we Muslims were sold short upto partition. Muslims were being brainwashed into thinking that if the British leave then we would be left at the mercy of the Hindu majority! Muslims did not stop to think that Muslim had ruled over India for the last 3-400 years maybe longer. I think Muslims would have carried on in important positions in Indian government. Same happened to the Sikhs, who were invited to be part of the new Pakistan, but Tara Singh went against the idea after being pressed by politicians and the British. Sikhs were promised a lot but never on paper.

I believe we were sold short by the British, let down by the decent ones in congress and fell out among ourselves over what the new nation should stand for.
Theres no doubting Pakistan was created for religous reasons.
Theres also no doubting the theoretical partition sounded great...
but in practice we lost out big time... the real gainers in this were the extremeist on both sides.
Indians are now able to blame all the bad on Muslims. The Indian extremists gained a lot that was not thier own.
Muslims are faced by the rising millitant faction who rightly point out the shortfalls and want them made up in blood.
India and Pakistan were led into Partition by astute and noble men... they are now held up by thugs on both sides.
I believe the British reaped the rewards, the Indians harvested it... and the Pakistanis baked it but the outsiders stole the real cake.
