Shoaib's value to the team

Saby, even Wasim lost some accuracy after his first six overs. That's a long stint for any bowler. For me, to see Shoiab bowlin in the nineties for 8 consecutive overs was enough. His fitness and willingness has been proved and you can't ask more than that.

he's still the most destructive fast bowler on the planet on his day. I'd rather have him on my side than somebody else's.

Yep i agree, all i was saying about accuracy and stuff in reply to Umair's post in which he asid that he was hammered by the namibian tailender. It was no surprise because the guy puts so much in each and every delevery. His spell was devestating and should charge him up for England Match

I don't think Shoaib got hammered because he was exahausted, I think he just lost his cool after an edge resulting in a boundry.
But it was still very pleaserous to see Shoaib knocking down the middle stump on the no ball.

Only Australia and Pakistan have genuine firepower in their bowling attack; and I'm not talking about Vaas-esque firepower which consists of being a "bachon ka hero" and nothing else. Game, aaj kal kidhar hota hai yar, long time no see ;)?

I agree, Shoaib is a major contributor to our pace attack...

*The Game was actually busy in his shifting from the United States to Canada. These days, all I am doing is watching the World Cup(and enjoying it so much ever since realizing that South Africa is down in the dumps due to a certain Stephen Fleming!). People, That Is All.*

I guess after the namibia match, the usefulness of the strong pace attack by Akhter is evident... There was also a thread on shoaib opening the bowling with one of the W's and it was tried as well, worked like a charm.

The thread was about who should open the bowling with WASIM AKRAM. Shoaib or Waqar or anybody can not move the new ball as much as Akram. Akram at the twlight of his career is still one of the most lethal opening bowlers in the game. His abilty to move the new ball in the air and off the seam is unmatched.

lahori munda, I believe shoaib was sent in with akram himself, and it proved very lethal indeed...

I'd go with Shoaib opening with Wasim if he can control his line and move it across the seam well without throwing it all over the place.

The more important issue is probably the need for a strike bowler for the middle overs, as Waqar's strike rate is nowhere near what it used to be. And you can't expect regular bowlers like Abdur Razzaq, Afridi etc. to get those crucial wickets (re:Symonds in the last game), especially when the think-tank is going in without Saqlain and only brings in Wasim and Shoaib at the first 10-12 and the last 10-12.
