Re: Shoaib Injured

Well they are saying that its not serious. I hope he gets fit soon..

Shoaib suffers new injury setback

Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has suffered a setback in his bid to prove his fitness before the tour to England.

Shoaib, who has been out of action since February following surgery on both knees, twisted an ankle during last week’s training camp in Lahore.

The injury is not thought to be serious but the 30-year-old has been told to rest for a few days.

The tour squad is due to be named on 9 June and Pakistan hope Shoaib will play at least one practice game before then.

Pakistan will play four Tests and five one-day internationals in England.

And Shoaib, who claimed 17 wickets to lead Pakistan to a 2-0 win over England in last winter’s home Test series, will be a key member of a potent seam attack which also includes Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.

“I have only made one tour there in 2001 and on that trip I got injured, so I am very determined to stay fit on this tour,” Shoaib recently told bigstarcricket.com.

"I think the prospect of an England tour has given me the inspiration I needed to work as hard as possible to get back to full fitness.

"I’m not saying I wouldn’t have trained hard otherwise, but an England tour and of course a World Cup a few months later is a massive and exciting challenge. “They are what we play the game for, in front of big crowds, trying to win big matches,” he added.
