I agree, having Shoaib is a big asset to the team but we can still win without him specially against a regualr kiwis team.
man Shoiab is an idiot and this is getting way to redundant now.
I wonder what Tauqir Zia and the Co. with do with him now.

read the news link above...
Every bowler, at one point or another have tampered with the ball to get some * assistance * but the problem that everyone else has with Pakistan is that they cant utilize it as effectively as Pakistani bowlers. If there are people who have been following the ball tampering issue for a while they would know that an ordinary medium pacer can not do a lot of harm with lifted seam. The first thing you need is a little more speed then you average Tom & Dick. The ball will not reverse swing unless you bowl whats termed as fast medium. The second thing is to what degree the ball is tempered, a little scratching wont do much good you really need to rub it hard and left the seam considerably to be able to take complete advtantage of reverse swing. Its an art that Pakistani bowlers have perfected over the years and other have tried to learn, but they have not been as effective as Pakistani bowlers have been. Ball tampering is a very old issue and go way before Akram and Waqar's time, the only reason their name come to mind after hearing ball tampering is cause they took full advantage of it and made it a big deal for everyone else.
I agree Shoaib should be punished for his action but some others deserved punishment too and if ICC let them go then why pick on Shoiab.... just for the simple fact that the other would not have done as much damage as Shoiab is capapble of doing with the tampered bowl cause of his speed and knowledge passed along from Akram and Waqar. Thats double standard.

to be honest, i dont care much about shoaib or his bowling talents. We have better bowlers than him. in a way i am glad we will get rid of this nuisance in our cricket team. he belongs in some lollywood film.

I disagree. He needs to be kept in line but he's still a big asset to the national team. His committment was in doubt before, so he got dropped from the squad. He responded by turning down big money to play county cricket to play for Pakistan. To me that shows a change of attitude so I don't have any problems on that side of it any more. he's bowled pretty well in this tournament.
I thought this series might be the "turning point of his career" Indeed!!!
ohhh shoaib is soooo hot
when he pulls off acts like these. ![]()

Any time Bhayeee..
I know, he cannot be an inch closer to Waqar Wasim,Imran Or Sarfaraz(I dont like him either, but he was a great bowler)
any way, coming to Shoaib once again. He is a professional cricketer and he should follow descipline which is necessary...
and he always go the other way around...
like waht he did in South Africa, the Avari Hotel Lahore and so many places,,,
I really dont know, why do we support him anymore.....
his performance is not even near to the two legends the TWO W's....
man I miss those days. when Waqar and Wasim Used to bowl. which ever place and no matter what kind of wicket.. they use to kick some butt of the batsmen..
but this man shoaib can get unfit at any time, ( even after two three overs)...
the conclusion is , that guy never impressed me, coz we have seen the best ever fast bowling already, and he aint gonnaa touch there heels
[/QUOTE]
Totally agree about 2 W's. They were something to watch. I followed them in most of the games and every single match they put so much fight that I doubt Shoaib could even do in his dreams. Shoaib just a nut head.
I though Shoaib would have been a great bowler had he not gotten into stupid trouble all the time, he has great talent, he can be the best if he behaves.
Anyways, I thought his punishment wasn't that harsh, I mean doing it 2nd time in 12 month period should be something more, 5 match ban etc.
I have begun to like Shaoib more, now that he did this...
He is too good.
Shaoib is a great player and a match winner.
He still has some attitude problems but i don't think that this falls under that category. His batting especially adds another big plus for him since he gives us a big hitter at the bottem of teh lineup we dont have since losing Wasim.
I don't think anyone says that Shaoib is as good as Waqar or Wasim but I think that he still can be at 27.
As for missing him for 2 games, it is not such big deal. Personally I am excited since Shabbir Ahmed who bowled really well when given a chance will get another shot.

hey does anybody remember how waqar got banned for tampering the ball, it was this game in SL pak were bowling second and waqar was brought for his third spell by moin khan and after couple of balls, when they noticed that ball is not being very friendly, waqar his way back to his bowling mark was shown visciously trying to shine the ball of the back pocket of his trouser, the next ball was left alone by the batsman and moin handed the ball to azhar mahmood at the first slip, who was clearly seen scratching the ball. this made everybody very suspecious of whatsgoing on and all the camaras were focusing waqar on his way back to his run up, now when they take a close up of his back pocket, they notice that it had a large zip on it and waqar was rubbing the ball on it. now that was first time when everybody noticed a zip on the hip pocket of a cricketer's trouser. and its purpose was clear.

in the pic above waqar was shown scratching the ball on his runup, i could not find the Video in which waqar was shown tampering the ball of the hip pocket.
the funny thing was when the tv was repeatedely showing waqar and azhar doing that, Javed miandad, the pakistani coach was trying to get players attention by shouting at them from the boundary line and trying to stop them from doing that.
Well waqar was caught doing that, still gets all the marks for the creativity and proves that he is in league of his own.
the media focuses on the paki players the most and that pisses me of so much because others do it as well or have done it liek theire angle mike atherton .. and wat about alec stewart and his match fixing .. there was hardly a word mentioned
thi doesnt mean that wat shoib did was rong .. its damn disgraceful and he got wat he deserved. its a shame when he could be most useful and was puling his act together he goes and does somethign stupied liek this :(
What’s gone on in the past isn’t really a concern, plenty of bowlers like Botham, Defreitas and others have tampered with the seam but it’s being cracked down on now so same rules should apply for everybody.
Looks like the spirit in the camp is still good with the players all fully behind Shoaib:
Pakistan want to do it for Akhtar
DAMBULLA, Sri Lanka (AFP) - Pakistani skipper Rashid Latif said his team was keen to win the triangular one-day series final against New Zealand here for disgraced fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
“We are determined to win and want to dedicate our victory to Akhtar,” Latif said ahead of Friday’ final.
Ace Pakistani paceman Akhtar, 27, was suspended for two one-dayers and fined 75 per cent of his match-fee on Wednesday for tampering with the ball during the concluding league match against New Zealand here.
He became only the second bowler in the world after compatriot Waqar Younis to be banned for ball-tampering.
Younis served a one-match suspension during a triangular series, also featuring South Africa and Sri Lanka, at Colombo in 2000.
Latif said the team’s morale was high despite Akhtar’s absence against more experienced opponents.
“His absence has made the team more determined. All of us support him and the team spirit is high,” said Latif, who is hoping to complete a double after winning a four-nation tournament in Sharjah last month.
He said it was “bad luck” for Pakistan that Akhtar was unavailable just when he appeared to have regained his best form.
“He bowled really fast in this tournament, especially in the last league game against New Zealand (on Tuesday),” said Latif.
“He is a match-winning bowler and has shown the same old devastating form in this series. We had better chances of winning the final if he was available.”
Akhtar looked impressive in all the four matches here as he often unsettled the New Zealand and Sri Lankan batsmen with his pace and accuracy to finish with seven wickets.
He has so far bagged 140 wickets in 85 one-day internationals.
New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming said he did not believe that his team’s chances had considerably improved in Akhtar’s absence because they were also missing key fast bowler Shane Bond.
Bond returned home due to a back injury after having played just two matches.
“Both the teams now have even chances,” said Fleming, eyeing a rare away triumph.
New Zealand’s only overseas victory came three years ago when they whipped India in the final of the ICC Trophy one-day tournament at Nairobi.
“Pressure will be the key thing in the final. Pakistan are a young talented side, but we are confident of a good showing as we have experienced players,” said Fleming.
The New Zealand captain was looking forward to an impressive performance from his batsmen, saying a total of “200-210” would be defendable on these tracks.
Pakistan planned to make two changes in their team for the final, including debutant opener Faisal Athar and fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed in place of Taufeeq Umar and Akhtar.
“Umar has been out of form in this series, so we plan to include Athar,” said Latif.
Pakistan (from): Rashid Latif (capt), Mohammad Hafeez, Faisal Athar, Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhana, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Danish Kaneria, Faisal Iqbal, Taufeeq Umar, Umar Gul.
New Zealand (from): Stephen Fleming (capt), Chris Nevin, Lou Vincent, Scott Styris, Chris Cairns, Chris Harris, Brendon McCullum, Kyle Mills, Jacob Oram, Daniel Vettori, Daryl Tuffey, Paul Wiseman, Andre Adams, Matthew Horne.
