**Interesting point to note that this was a choice made by Prime Minister Gilani, not Zardari who normally makes diplomatic appointments as President. Sherry Rehman has been isolated and targetted by Zardari for the last couple of years after she resigned from the govt when he tried to muzzle the media. Her house was actually attacked by Zardari supporting PPP activists.

leave her smoking, smooching, drinking, bathing habits, preference in boxers or briefs out of it.

U mentioned her qualities in ur post ur self........When Zardari saw that he was not giving interest to the other party members He gave this position to Sherry just to make her happy
btw, keeping this memo issue aside (which can be planned too), personally I think that Hussain Haqqani served Pakistan well as ambassador. He is an intelligent and hard working guy and he was our ambassador at the time when relations b/w US and Pakistan were at the lowest.
Only -ive that I see in Sherry is that k she speaks what she think is right which is an excellent quality but does not work every-time in diplomacy

Stood up for media freedom and resigned as a minister when Zardari tried to close some tv stations critical of him.
Champion of women's rights, introduced women's protection bills in parliament.
Stood upto religious extremists who have threatened her life and tried to present bills to reform laws that encouraged discrimination of minorities.
She was with BB on 18th October,
And remaind with her on eveving of assassination of Shaheed BB on her normal vhicle when Rahman Mlik , Babar Awan and a general ran away on their bullet proof car , She rejected many offers of ministry in last two years,. I don't understand how she accepted this one .
when answering a question as information minister, about "why govt is allowing increasing vulgar (or some similar word was there) advertisement on TV channels, why no code is being set" she had replied change your channel if you dont like, and these ads are a good source of income for the organization... instead of explaining how govt has a policy/ code about such ads... and that she will find out more on the matter and take corrective measures if necessary
someone who can suggest to let down ones ethics and modesty for "good source of income"... expect her to let down anything, all interests of the country for "some other good source of income"...
there was a large number of experienced people, well versed in foreign affairs and those who understand american way of thinking very good... may be good for ppp to keep its traitorous channel open with america, but not good for pakistan at all...
