Which is the other way round in Karachi. Sheermal is flat and has got same size thickness all over. Taftan is thicker with very thick edges. Taftan is less oily than Sheermal.

It was staple food of mughals therefore Lahori folks would not know the intricacies of this line of breads.
I am Lahori by the way , born and partly raised in Lahore , growed up in Karachi therefore I know what I am talking about.
well i havenot named them sheermaal-taftaan or vice versa. they are there with these names since ages. like i had been eating mohammadi nihari since 20yrs and whenever i used to ask them for taftaan they always used to give the soft but stiff sweet bread which is light pink/orange in colour. well i guess its just diff in karachi yet i am sooo surprised that not a single person knows what i am on about. hmmmmm
