She cried rape — and no one helped

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

shame on the administration who looked but did nothing

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

this is so frightening, I live a couple of blocks away frm the station where it happened :S
No offence but that gal seems stupid, and it's not because she's a girl. It's because you have to b careful where ever you are, whether u r a man or woman. When a person crosses a road he/she looks on both of the sides even if the signal is red, y? as a precaution. Such cases can happen any where, any place under any circumstances but a person has to b sensible enuf 2 think abt him/her self's sefety first then leaving/depending every thing on the govt/responsible agencies.

I m new here in US and also a black belt but even I know that subways are not safe @ night, I always call 4 a town car when I m working late @ office.

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

so New york people who use the subway almost every day.... in your opinion how late is too late to travel on the subway that it might not be considered safe...??
For example,is 10 PM late and considered a bit usnafe...??
And what can the other option be in such a situation...??...is getting a cab safer than traveling the subway say at or around midnight...??

Oh, this is so very sad....:(

I've rode the subway until midnight on several occasions, but usually i will take a cab home from the station. I know this will sound bad but a girl should never be out alone after midnight. And really, sometimes depending on the subway line/station, going at 1 AM is probably teh same as going at 1 PM bc some trains are perpetually full/crowded at all hours.

No doubt a Cab is definitely safer, and quicker too--however, it's VERY expensive, alot of cabbies (I have heard) won't go into the outer boroughs (bronx/brooklyn/queens), so it's not a feasible option for people who frequently have to come home late.

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

this made me sick.

how callous and unfeeling would you have to be?

And then to have that behavior condoned by our own courts?

Kitty Genovese is actually a case studied in psychology and sociology classes now- that's how disturbing it is. No one wants to be the first to speak up, because we're scared to be alone, we feel safety in numbers.

This is why there should be no gun free zones-anywhere. Women are more likely to be attacked by someone who is physically stronger than them, we should have the right to level the playing field!

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

the bull**** states of america at it's best!

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

Let me quote Dante here:

*'The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.'*

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

This is horrible horrific situation. But yeah why is she riding the subway at 2 am? Also if I were taking the subway alone, id look around my surrondings....i wouldnt feel comfy being the only person in a train box, esp if someone looks suspicious. Id get off n wait for another train or something. I hope she gets justice.

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

This is very sad. I have no words to explain but you would think a woman is safe in North America to travel by herself, I guess not!

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

Depends on where you are....

Taking the subway in Manhattan after midnight is safe...

There is a heavy Cop Presence on the Subways in Manhattan

But if you go to Harlem, Bronx and some parts of Brooklyn and Queens...then its very dangerous....cause cops are usually busy with other crimes.....

The most dangerous Subway line is the No. 4 Train which runs from Harlem into Bronx....avoid that all costs after 10pm

Re: She cried rape — and no one helped

depends on where you are....

if you go to crime infested areas then obviously you are in danger
