Share your Relative's 1947 Migration to Pakistan Stories

Re: Share your Relative's 1947 Migration to Pakistan Stories

The fear of Hindu domination existed well before the days of the Pakistan movement itself...the Muslim League was founded a full 41 years before indpendence, and some would argue that the idea of a separate South Asian Muslim nationalist identity was born well before then, in the writings of Sir Syed Ahmed and Syed Ameer Ali. In any case, pinning the blame for Partition exclusively on the British is a convenient way for Indians shirk any responsibility for their leaders' unwillingness to compromise with the League.

Blaming the British for mismanaging Partition, and allowing millions to die in the resulting chaos, is a different matter entirely.

Janab - Jinnah & Gandhi were the minor players - the real players were the Americans.

The British were forced to give us Independence, because after the 2nd world war America bullied the weakened European countries to give freedom to all their colonies.

Churchill and his creed, assured Jinnah of their support - it suited them if they can't keep India, then they wanted to make sure it was divided & weakened.

Just like they created an Isreal - right in the middle of Arabia. Divide & rule.

Isreal became a puppet of America, and Pakistan too became a puppet of America. They both got weapons & aid from their new masters.

If Kashmir was to ever become independent - guess who will be the new puppets of America?

Which is why the British sabotaged Pakistan as much as they could in their early days, and did everything in their power to destabilize the nation in its early days so it collapse and rejoin India.

Better an American puppet than an Indian occupied territory.

Janab: No one sabotaged Pakistan - Jinnah's expectation was greater than the reality accorded.

Read the 'Time magazine' of that era, or any independent source - you will be surprised how much history has been distorted by Pakistan..

The actual events...moving up the date of Partition 10 months before any preparations could be made, awarding Gurdaspur (with the only road connecting India to Kashmir) and Ferozepur (with the only military arsenal that Pakistan could potentially have access to) to India despite their Muslim majorities, delaying the division of central assets till Pakistan was on the brink of bankruptcy...all would lead one to believe otherwise.

In any case, I don't want to derail this thread anymore than it already has been.
